Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have been playing the guitar since I was 11 years old and I am now 66. I've downed from early silvertones, guitars that posted no names, and those that are well known throughout the industry. In 2012 I strapped on a fender JM signature series at GC and fell in love with the elevated quality sound, design and all around playability. Two years later I am happy to say I own one, but here is the great part of the story. I did not purchase it, all my great friends knew my love for guitars and decided to present me with one as a retirement gift! I play it as often as I can and I truly say it is hard for me to place it back in the beautiful high quality case. I do agree that when I first saw the guitar I thought odd that the back cover plate was missing until a guitar guru friend educated me on why the missing plate, strange but does not change the overall opinion of this impressive instrument.

    Best Strat for this price

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I walked into Guitar Center to check out some Les Paul guitars and while I was testing one out, I saw this guitar on a stand next to me so I picked it up and started playing it without plugging it to an amp. It felt awesome. The neck was bit "fat" but it just made it feel even better and the satin finish on the neck is perfect. 15 minutes later I was walking to my car with a new guitar. For those complaining about the price, go to the "Fender American Experience" site and build your own guitar there with these specs. The price would be close to $1900. That's what I was planning to do after visiting the Fender factory in Corona, CA until I found this guitar and fell in love with it. Another complaint I keep hearing is that it's a John Mayer signature model. Forget the name associated to it and just play the guitar on a tube amp and the let the Big Dipper pickups do the "talking". They sound amazing. At this price and this tone, I would buy this guitar, even if it would be a Yanni signature model (nothing personal against Yanni, just throwing a name out there).

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

The features included on the strat are ideal. The slightly beefier neck for added tone, the flat radius for string bending, the vintage bridge for the best vibrato are all great items to include. The pickups have that perfect gnarly strat tone. Even though they are supposedly mid scooped, this guitar sounds not far from one with Texas Special pickups which are supposedly mid enhanced. Whatever, it sounds great. The fit and finish are very good also, of the quality of a strat american deluxe. I recommend it! I have owned several starts over the years and this one is the best. I live in Austin and we know stratocasters here with Stevie Ray and Eric Johnson coming out of Austin.

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Just received my John Mayor strat in Olympic white from MF. The usual fast shipping service.
Beautiful in appearance and comes in a nifty looking hardshell case. This guitar definately stands apart from all my other strats, mainly due to the Big Dipper pickups and the neck. I am an old cat and prefer the cleaner Fender tones, and this guitar really has that. It has more quack and punch than, say, an American standard. The neck is slightly fuller too, so if you are someone like me who leans more towards the baseball bat side, I think you will really like it. It has a nice satin spray on it which feels woody yet still slick enough to manuever easily on. Someone reported that string bends 'fret out' above the 12th fret. I see no evidence of that at all. It did come set up with string height on the high end, which may be how JM likes his, I don't know. I did lower slightly, but still with room for some grab. The other odd details are a retro decal on the aged looking headstock (very attractive) and the string trees are set back farther, which makes no difference to me. Also there is no backplate (not even included to mount). In fact, there are no holes drilled for one. This is how JM has his, but in my book that is taking it to the extreme. I did not buy this because I want to sound like JM, in fact I am not even that big a fan, although I acknowledge his talent and envy his string of ladies. I would have peferred it was not even a signature model. I took a chance on it because I read so many great things about it, and MF was featuring a deal on them. I do think you will really enjoy it if you buy one. Cheers.

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Ordered this and got it in 10 days. (and I'm currently in Germany due to work, so that was FAST!) I ordered the Olympic white and it looks beautiful!

The C shape neck is something you'll have to get used to. It's meaty.

The tone is amazing and the guitar responds very well. Very versatile.

The only thing I didn't like is I was expecting some more extras for ordering a signature guitar. The other version comes with an incase gig bag. This one comes with a generic Fender hardshell case, a 6 in guitar cord, a wammy bar, and a manual thats in Spanish. (why????) They don't even give you the backplate. (yea, I know mayer asked for it to be taken off, but I still expected it to be there.)

Despite that little complaint it doesn't take away from how awesome this guitar is. If you're a blues guy I recommend it!

              Tone heaven

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Previously to getting this guitar, I had only owned a Gibson Les Paul Studio and Gibson Hummingbird TV. I was a little concerned that the smaller nut and longer scale length of Fenders would be a difficult transition. My concerns were for naught. This guitar is very easy to play. It did require a setup after I received it from GuitarCenter.com as there was fret buzz but after adjusting the truss rod and the action this thing plays like a dream. The pickups sound like what a strat should sound like in my head. It's a very versatile guitar. I had to return the original model I received due to some cosmetic blemishes, and the support received from guitarcenter.com during that process was great. This guitar feels looks amazing. My wife requested we hang it up on the wall rather than keep it in its case because it's really a piece of functional art. As for the Mayer name, his signature is very discreet. I know a lot think he's a d-bag but all I cared about were the guitar specs, which is basically a 62 AVRI. I look forward to owning this guitar for the rest of my life. I hope it wears nicely, as there is something special about a well-loved guitar.

Stevie Ray Vaughan want to be

              By John

              from Waunakee WI

Comments about Fender Artist Series John Mayer Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

It is a great sounding ballsy guitar with major tone. This guitar is made to be played hard and when I say hard that is the way it is. It comes with a sixties neck that has all the problems that sixties necks had. The frets have to filed down past the twelfth or they just die out when you bend and I bend a lot. So after the guitar went to three different Lutheries and continuous setting up and adjusting of the neck,(meaning removing the neck bolts to adjust) that has to be done several times a year, it can be pretty awesome. But you better know a little about guitars or get something else other than one with a sixties neck. When I feel like playing with an attitude, it is the guitar I grab.
