The Jeff Beck Stratocaster Electric Guitar from Fender's Artist Series reflects the significant changes Jeff made in his Strat to accommodate his constantly evolving style. The new neck is a softer C-shape, not as large or deep as Jeff's previous choice. Also, the guitar features the new Fender special-design dual-coil ceramic Noiseless pickups, a contoured heel for easier access to the higher registers, and straight-ahead Strat 5-way switching. I had one of the original Beck strats with the huge neck but I hated the sea foam green color and the other colors were just as bad. When I saw this one in white I knew I had to give it a shot. The action was too low when I opened the box so after raising the action and adjusting the trem so it only goes down I was set to see just what this was like compared to the first version. I have to admit the neck felt a bit thin but after playing it awhile It felt nice and fast. The new pups are much better then the original ones and got some amazing tones played through my AC30. I always loved white strats with rosewood boards since the Beach Boys days and Al Jardine so finally Fender got the right shade of white unlike the blonde/white on the older models. The ability to go higher on the neck was a great idea and Fender really did a great job on this Strat. Fender is coming out with some great models in great colors so this Strat is such an improvement over the first try that I'm looking for a tele now . Great guitar at a great price from a company that always delivers the goods.
from the very beginning of his career with the yardbirds, to his first solo album (truth), to today, where he is a rock and roll hall of famer, jeff becks style has changed a lot, and the type of guitar he played changed as a result. but this guitar is versatile, features an excellent tremolo bar which earns his nickname, and is very playable. slightly pricey 4 beginners, but if you can afford it then it wont dissapoint
I give it a 5 for build quality . A 4 for factory setup . It is always a conservative setup . After I set it up the way I like it is a beautiful guitar to play . The tones are nice and useful . When setup right it will stay in tune very well for a non double locking system . It will pull off Jeff's stuff very well and will cover most types of music . Overall a Great Buy . What More Could You Ask For it's a Jeff Beck model !!!!!!!
Always was a big JB fan and always wanted a Strat that had a tremolo system that kept guitar in tone. Pick-ups are "hot" and for the money and maybe a set-up cost - great guitar. To get a close JB sound with thsi guitar, turn tone controls down on guitar, turn up treble and bass down on amp and play with your fingers.
I love this guitar so much. First off the "special" not Stock noisless pickups are as quit as a Les Paul. I was shocked as to how true to form they stayed to the real Strat sound, but with a nice bite. Harmonics are a cinch to pull off almost anywhere. I was going to get the signature but I figured I'd check this opne out and I'm impressed with the Quality of sound, and physical build. Truly the best Strat I've owned or played
I have to admit that I had not heard one lick of Jeff Beck prior to purchasing this guitar (to my knowledge, anyway). I chose it based on some extensive research before upgrading from an Epiphone Casino and older Charvel Jackson. I wanted a good tremolo system that would not go out of tune. The LSR Roller Nut and locking tuning heads ensure that this stays in tune (except for the obvious temperature related stuff). I wanted pickups that would be silent if needed and these ceramic Noiseless pickups are completely silent even in buildings with wacky lights. I wanted an accessible fret board and this one is fast, and the tappered neck at the heal is perfect for accessing the 22nd fret. The tone is amazing. I play this through a Hot Rod Deluxe and with a few choice pedals, can acheive any sound I want--Blues, country, rock, Vai, Satriani (especially with some pedal help due to no humbuckers on the Strat). The best is straight throught the amp--the guitar's tone is spectacular. Since purchasing this I've bought some Jeff Beck albums to continue my schooling. Buy this Strat if you want an awesome primary guitar. I have never been dissapointed. My only upgrades at this point will be amps and effects--building around the great tone and quality of this Strat. Fender rules.
i own a green one of these and let me tell you looks are your first attraction to this guitar.then you pick it up and start playing and you are pleasently suprised with the fact that this isnt a regular strat at all.feels like a corvette of strat.high performance, sleek, fast, sounds amazing, fit and finish 100%,comphortable to hold and play, well balanced, hell its all good!for a few bucks more than a regular strat its well worth it.go for it you will always want to keep this one in your collection for shure.as currently i have approx 25 high end gibsons and fenders in my stable(and i play them all often)i say this falls up in the top 5.if you go to a gig and are not shure what you need....take this it covers it all.
