Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I used to have a '96 model reissue. Within a couple months of acquiring the new line, I got rid of the old one. The neck on the old one was tiny, while the new ones have some beef to them. I was bowled over by the sustain coming from this one. When held up high against your chest you can feel the sounds coming off this guitar unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's been said countless times before, Leo got it right the first time. I highly recommend this guitar.

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

P'ups not excellent for dry playing at a loud gig if you need silence from your instrument. Outside of that, this is the best dang guitar I've ever owned, (out of 29). Neck is extremely comfy, might not be for you but it's okay to be wrong. Both pickups sound like keepers, and the hardware and case are high quality as well. Needed some additional time for set-up, but was well worth the effort.

Love the vintage look. A lot of fun to play...especially for blues. Great classic fender sound.

Not used to the E strings being so close to the neck edges. Been playing a Gibson 335 for awhile and an acoustic 1972 Takamine 0028 knock-off(F310S). But, I'll get used to it!

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I'll start by saying that I have had older '52 reissues (pre-2012), and yes, this one IS different. Is it better? It all depends on what you're looking for in a vintage reissue Tele.

I will say that the newer reissues have bigger necks and hotter pickups. I like big necks on my Teles, so it's not a big deal, but if that isn't your thing, you may want to steer clear.

Also, the pickups seem to be slightly hotter. They still have that vintage sweetness to them, but the older reissue pickups sounded a little more softer and janglier. I will say that the newer ones are probably better suited for rock and blues than the old ones, but yes, they are still perfect for country.

You have to be really careful with the finish on these newer ones. The finish is still nitro, but it's what Fender calls a "flash-coat". It still looks great and contributes to the overall sound, as you'd expect, but you just have to be careful with it. Should be a lot easier to get that "reliced" look, though.

Overall, a great guitar. I really like what Fender did with these, even though I like the older reissues better. I'm going to try and get a '58 and a '64 to keep this one company. Yes, they're that good.

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This thing is awesome. Heavy enough to use for self defense, not so heavy that you'll need a chiropractor.

It plays amazing, if you like the fatter necks and smaller frets... which I do.

It looks, feels, plays like a dream.

My only complaints are that my hands are sore from all the people wanting to high five me when they see it.... and I had to learn kung fu to beat back the flocks of babes that interrupt my guitar time.
