'52 Tele has a soul

By Darrell Waters

from Littleton, CO

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I had been wanting to add a Tele' to my collection for a long time - a nice one. I was eying the American Deluxe. At the store they had a '52 hanging next to the Deluxe, so I decided to do a side-by-side. I went back and forth, playing through a Fender '65 Reissue Deluxe Reverb amp for over an hour. The Tele' Deluxe was a beautiful instrument, but in the end, the raw feel put the '52 in a different league. You know how sometimes when you sit down to play and you've got to think about what your playing - this riff, that song - guiding your playing, and then other times you sit down and hit a chord or a couple notes of a riff and suddenly music flows from the inside; it just comes out of you? That was the difference. Every time I picked up the Deluxe, I thought my way through what I was playing. Every time I picked up the '52, music just flowed. There was a visceral resonance with the '52, more so than with any other guitar I've ever played. Not only was it transcendent to play, it even smells good - old lacquer, found hiding at the back of some forgotten storeroom. I love this guitar; I think it's got a living soul of it's own.

It Has a Soul

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I had been wanting to add a Tele' to my collection for a long time - a nice one. I was eying the American Deluxe. The Guitar Center had a '52 hanging next to the Deluxe, so I decided to do a side by side. I went back and forth, playing through a Fender '65 Reissue Deluxe Reverb amp for over an hour. I can only differentiate by the raw feel, and for reference I found the Tele' Deluxe to be a beautiful instrument. You know how sometimes when you sit down to play and you've got to think about what your playing - this riff, that song - guiding your playing, and then other times you sit down and hit a chord or a couple notes of a riff and suddenly you just start following a trail of music from the inside; creating on the spot; it just comes out of you? That was the difference. It was weird. Every time I picked up the Deluxe, I thought my way through what I was playing. Every time I picked up the '52, music just flowed; my own unique, unplanned output, and I loved it. I lost all thought. There was a visceral resonance with the '52, more so than with any other guitar I've ever played. Not only was the experience transcendent, it even smells good - old lacquer, found hiding at the back of some forgotten storeroom. I love this guitar; I think it's got a living soul of it's own.

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I'm adding this because it's not mention in the Instrument Description these are Alnico 3 pick ups not Ceramic.! Mine is a 2006 model I traded a 1979 Hard Tail Strat for it, even trade.. The Telecaster I've owned since 1980 was custom built of the best parts available at the time I have Seymour Duncan Pickups a 1/4 Pounder in the neck and 58 Broadcaster in the Bridge..it's a Swamp Ash Body Birdseye Maple Neck huge solid brass bridge and bridge plate it's was built by me, Matt Umanov and Bob Jones..I could go on so I know from Telecasters.! I've played 57 and 53 Telecasters the real deals.. These American Vintage 1952 Telecasters are great I also have a Telecaster Squier Deluxe a beauty with dual Fender Ceramic Humbuckers.! You can't go wrong with a Telecaster you can play any style on it Jazz, Blues Country Rock n Roll Gospel.. It's the first solid body electric guitar and still the best and also important the most comfortable to play as well..

Comments about Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I used to have a '96 model reissue. Within a couple months of acquiring the new line, I got rid of the old one. The neck on the old one was tiny, while the new ones have some beef to them. I was bowled over by the sustain coming from this one. When held up high against your chest you can feel the sounds coming off this guitar unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's been said countless times before, Leo got it right the first time. I highly recommend this guitar.

Not used to the E strings being so close to the neck edges. Been playing a Gibson 335 for awhile and an acoustic 1972 Takamine 0028 knock-off(F310S). But, I'll get used to it!
