Overview

From the garage to the club to the stadium, the American Standard Telecaster is the same great best-selling go-to guitar it always has been, and now it's upgraded with a comfortable new body contour and classic-sounding Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele (neck) and Broadcaster (bridge) pickups. The latest incarnation of a truly timeless classic, it rings more fully, brightly and crisply than ever.

The look, sound and vibe of the Telecaster resonates throughout the history of popular music. From orchestra pits to mosh pits, small clubs to stadiums and garages to recording studios, its signature sound is everywhere. The American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fingerboard has hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Custom Shop pickups, staggered tuning machines, improved bridge with bent steel saddles mounted to a stamped-brass bridge plate for increased resonance and sustain, tinted neck, high-gloss maple fingerboard, satin-finished neck back, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, and Fender Tolex case.

I purchased the crimson red transparent w/maple fretboard four months ago and couldn't be happier. I've never been a fan of the color red. The shade of crimson w/the ash grain coming through is stunning. For electrics, I own Fender strats and teles, exclusively. I've been paying for 40 plus years and on occasion I've heard Gibson players say "Fender's are hard to play." Try the 2013 American Standard Telecaster...it'll change your mind.

Played Perfectly right out of the box and stays in tune. I was going to change the strings but there was no need as it sounds and plays great. The strap and cord were bonus extras.

Wasn't sure what the wood grain pattern would look like as GC does not offer a guitar gallery to visualize the actual ax you are purchasing. I must say I was pleasantly surprise when I opened the case and found this beauty looking back at me. Absolutely gorgeous! Feels, plays, sounds, and looks amazing!

Wish that the store had notified me when it arrived and that a tech had gone over it as it needed a bit of tweaking.
          The instruments otherwise is great!

            Great Find!

            By Stephen Olszewski

            from Emeryville CA

Comments about Fender American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fingerboard:

I picked up and AST with a beautiful ash body and maple neck about a month ago. I've had a chance to play it in a bit, travel with it, and record with it. I really love the tones that come out of both pickups. These custom shop pickups really sing, especially the twisted tele pickup in the neck. I've had a few issues with tuning, but I did adjust the neck so this may just be a little settling in. Sound from the pickups is surprisingly even in the middle position. I had to adjust the pickups slightly and found that these pickups are really sensitive to height adjustments. if you are not getting the sound you want, try adjusting the pickups before looking for 3rd party stuff. Great projection - the ash and maple combo makes even a finger attacks snap and cut through. The flip side of this is that this guitar is extremely honest and unforgiving. It will expose every click and scrape and muffed note very clearly. I love that, it makes me play better, but YMMV. The only real issue I've had is with the extra-thin urethane finish. I've already had a couple of flakes come off on the curved belly. I don't really mind, I think it just adds character, but be forewarned, and check the finish carefully before purchasing, if you care about such things. I think that this is a well balanced, bold, brilliant guitar that does everything well, and have to recommend it wholeheartedly.

It's a Fender American Telecaster, what else could I say but it's awesome.

It's a Fender American Telecaster, what else could I say but it's awesome. Very nice playability. Awesome tone. Very versatile guitar. I will not compare this guitar with my Gibson guitar, their both awesome but different guitars. Gibson LP and Fender Tele are my favorite. Ok, going back to Fender Tele, all I can really say is buy this guitar, it's an investment. Don't settle for less. You will not regret this.
