Truly Awesome Axe

By renee cole

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I had been waiting to buy an American-made Strat until Fender came out with some better colors. As soon as I saw this baby in Mystic Blue with the maple-neck, I knew I had to have it. Let me say it plays like a dream, but if an axe can look better than it sounds, this is one of them. When I picked it up, everyone at the OKC Guitar Center was, wow, what a nice guitar, man. When I showed up at band practice two days later, everyone was so jealous, hehehe. It was set-up very nicely out of the box. Of course, when I got home the 9's came off and 10's went on. I made some slight adjustments to the bridge because of the larger gauge. I had the tweak the torsion bar slightly, less than a quarter of a turn four days later to correct a slight buzz. Other than that, this Strat plays like a dream and looks great too. The pictures don't show the rich shade of blue or the really subtle metal fleck finish. The neck is super for bends and the frets are just right. I have big hands and the radius is excellent. I can cheat with the thumb, no problema. It is also 4 or 5 lbs lighter than my LP, which is really cool during marathon practice sessions. Can't wait to get this baby under the lights. It is going to stay unmodified for the time being, but I will probably add some shielding to the p/u cavities, it has a tendency to hum around strong emf fields, but so do a lot of other axes. Other than that it was five-stars out of the box, and it is still five stars IMHO. Buy this guitar now!

First guitar I bought for myself.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I picked this guitar up in the Jade Pearl Metallic during the summer and I am just in love with it. The custom shop Fat '50s pickups and the Diamondback humbucker pickup sound great and provide a wide range of tones with little buzz, even on my cheap practice amp. The modern "C" shaped neck is amazing for my big hands and stubby fingers and feels great too. The satin finish on the back of the neck is great because it makes moving up and down the neck effortless and the glossy fingerboard is great for bending. The American Standard has been Fender's flagship guitar for years, and that's all do to the great American craftsmanship put into these guitars. It is worth every penny, so if you are on the fence on weather to buy the American Standard or the American Special, go with the Standard you absolutely will not regret it.

Such an awesome guitar

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Maple Fretboard:

I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now. This is my second electric guitar and it is the best guitar I've had. It has a very smooth feel, the whammy is amazing (compared to my Squire Strat), over all the guitar is amazing.
