Overview

The Fender American Stratocaster Electric Guitar is a Fender icon. Juicy upgrades include a richer, deeper neck tint for a more elegant and expensive appearance; glossed neck front for improved looks with satin back for smooth playability; and bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing is narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws are resized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle is elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. The Copper Infused Cast Strat® Bridge Block (steel with copper—100% metal) provides increased mass and improved tone. This Strat features the original headstock shape but has staggered machine heads losing one string tree and improving string angle over the nut. Custom staggered pickup magnets improve string-to-string balance and give the G-string better tone. Cosmetics include parchment/black/parchment pickguard and parchment pickup covers, knobs, and tips.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors—mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments popular in the first place. They feature excellent bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still on board for the American Standard Strat are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, Alnico V pickups, the Delta system that includes a high-output bridge pickup and a special no-load tone control, providing more gain, more high end, and a little more "raw" tone, and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)!

American Standard Strat® Bridge
Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height, screw length).

Bridge Component Specifics
American Standard saddles - The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo.' Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, and improved the string break angle over the primary contact point.

Tone-fusion block - A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate voids in the material and to bond it together … this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

I bought this yesterday, plugged it nt and was blown away This guitar's tone is better than the Clapton sig I own. The picture does not do this axe justice.. 1st because they tinted the neck .. it looks really sweet.. great touch.. but yah, looks are not the most important thing here .. the new vintage saddles deliver a richer tone .. yes, i'm not a big fan of a floating trem, but it's an improvement over the previous american strat saddles, BELIEVE ME.. listen for yourself.. anyway- maybe traditional strat fans will not initially give this new axe a chance, and some part of me didn't want this axe to be any better, but after playing it myself and hearing the richer tones delivered out of this new axe, i am recomending this new Strat to anyone who is lucky enough to get their hands on one .. Good luck to all!

My first mistake, ordering a guitar online. Had difficulty getting the Black Friday discount on checkout page. So I phoned in the order. Don't get me wrong the people a GC.com phone people are fantastic 5Star. The kid I spoke with got my order right and was able to incorporate all my info from the online sight. Also got me the promised discount. The guitar arrived in a timely mannner. I ordered the Candy Cola w/rosewood model. UPS Ground delivery, the box was not crushed but had a few scrapes but nothing to lead me to believe that the guitar was damaged. Opened the case and it looked marvelous. Could not wait to play my new toy and after about and hour and a half of constantly tuning. I set it down and figured it need to acclimate to my house temp. Then I really got to looking at the guitar and noticed a 1/4 inch sized dent in the top rolled egde. Upon further inspection of the case noticed that it too was dinged up in the same location. Thankfully GC is a quality company and I was willing to return this guitar to the local store and I upgraded to a Les Paul Traditional Plus Ice tea burst. This I actually played and am in love with. The people at the GC in Portage Michigan are fantastic and I will never buy another guitar online. I may window shop but I will have them order it in. This whole problem had to occure at the Fender factory. So take note your online purchase may not be the dream you expected.

OK, Fender is improving!

By DAVID RALSTON

from Stafford

OK, just got the Fender American strat 2 weeks ago and can't put it down. My other axes are bing ignored right now, but I have seen a short history of some very bad Fender strats coming out of Corona Calif that sounded like something from a walmart guitar, so I for now will only give it a 4 star rating. I am not one of those review writers to run home and spill my guts of greatness over my new toy just because I am excited about it. I have had a couple weeks with my new 2012 American srat and and I am opening up to it. I am one of those that chooses my guitars based on playability and quality, not value. I slowly watched 5 years of my American made guitar collection turn into a bunch of Korean made ones like: the Schecter C1 Classic and the PRS Korean made SE custom. These were much better quality and sound worthy than my two Fenders that I practically gave away like my: SRV Fender strat (What a pile) and a 2007 candy apple red American Fender strat ( Looked great but sounded awful). The 2012 strat feels really good in my hands. The action is fantastic. My fingers slide easy up and down the maple fret board. That Fender crunch tone is here in this guitar. I haven't felt and heard this in a Fender strat since the 1970s. The resonation is very nice. You can feel the vibration in the neck. It plays like butter with no obsticals. The action I feel is very similar to what I felt in a $3700 PRS. I have a new main axe now and I think this is it. I play alot of blues and classic rock and it fills it all. I played this guitar through a Bogner tube amp and it was a magical fit. The cleans don't come very easy but that super sweet rough-around-the-edges crunch is an adicting experience. My guitar came in Olympic white and I might spruce it up with gold hardware and a new pickguard. I am likely the most difficult person to please with a guitar, but with this one I am very pleased and I would recommend this to anyone beginner or pro. It is cheap enough at guitar center for the beginner player. I am very impressed with Fender and think they have made quite a big turn-around in guitar quality from their drop about 20 years ago.

ultimate rocker

By travers ritz

i have owned this guitar for a year...i replaced the block with a fu upgrade from adam reiver..pure brass block. added a tremel-no, decked the bridge as well..replaced the stock pickups with seymour duncan hot rails at the bridge, and cool rails in the middle and neck position...this guitar can do metal in spades...you get all the playability of a longer scale with the face melting distortion from the sd pickups...i have not picked up my lp since....fit and finish are perfect, well, were perfect... i have a few dings on it now...badges of honor for a guitar...i will keep this guitar for the rest of my life...my main axe...thinking about getting another one just for the hell of it....great guitar, great sound, great deal..if you like strats, this is the bomb!!!!!!!!

really great

By steven pearson

from lake forest park, wa

I've owned a Strat for about 6 years and I gotta say this thing is great except for a few small issues its really a good guitar considering its lasted this long and even with a few bumps and scratches it still plays like new. This is also a really great guitar for beginners since its really simply handled.

Fender American Standard 3 tone sunburst w/ rosewood fretboard

By Billy Griner

from Milledgeville, GA

I recently purchased this fine machine of a guitar. I layed the guitar down for about 35 years. Over 40 years ago I played in a band starting out with a Telecaster, then to a Stratocaster, and the final guitar was a Jaguar. All three were great Fender guitars. My plans were to buy a cheaper guitar when the urge to get back hit but my past love for the Fender American brands sent me straight to them when visiting Guitar Center. I tried several out before making up my mind. This Strat has all the sounds you could ask for. Great looking guitar. I love the feel of the neck. The guys at Guitar Center were very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me make the decision. There was no pressure selling.

An American Classic- Period.

By Luis Cruz

from Winter Park, FL

I just bought the 3 tone Sunburst Rosewood Stratocaster and let me tell you, this is a superb guitar period. If you can swing it or save money to buy it, it is worth every penny. It is a great value and what an American made guitar should be. I wanted to have something I can grow into and this let's me do it. Thank goodness it is still made in the good old USA. Whether you are a beginner like me or a pro, this guitar will make you feel good about playing. I don't care about all the little nuances people write about on this guitar, it is a 5 Star and I'd give it a 10 Star if I could. It was on sale over President's Day weekend and I was stunned on the price. I couldn't believe it. If you want this guitar this weekend, you better go pick it up, because the price is sure to go up. Thanks Fender and Guitar Center.

Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die.

By Bryan Kotsher

from Baltimore, MD

What can you say about 60 year old legend that hasn't already been said? The American made Stratocaster is simply one of the most versatile and just plain fun to play guitars on the market, a reputation it's held since the early 60's. Each of the five tone positions offers its own unique sound, complete with that crisp, beautiful single-coil chime that has made the Strat an American Icon. The clean tones are impeccable, especially my personal favorite: Position 4, the neck and middle pickup position. And yet this guitar can positively scream with distortion when put to the test. If you're looking for a guitar with the ability to play right at home in a multitude of genres, this guitar is the indisputable champion of your dreams.

The American Workhorse

By Paul Bordelon

from Clifton, VA

I was looking hard for a telecaster at GC when I picked up an Olympic White with maple fretboard American Standard and was blown away! An excellent value that looks and sounds great. But what really sold me was the neck. Even before a proper set up this thing played like butter, smooth as can be. Ive had the guitar for about a month now. For cosmetic reasons I changed the pickguard to a mint green. I also replaced the trem bar with a shorter David Gilmourish style bar. After playing a gig with the guitar I realized that while it sounded great there was a little too much noise/buzz under the lights with the stock pickups. I just replaced them with a set of Fender Hot Noiseless and I can tell you this is the finest playing and sounding strat I have ever played...and I have played a lot and own two others....well ok, so a well set up custom shop or Blackie Clapton might play better but for the money I dont think you can do much better! Before you buy a deluxe strat consider the american standard with a pickup upograde...a little cheaper and just wonderful! For blues, rock, country etc. I highly recommend this guitar! You may need a fatter bridge humbucker like in the HSS strat model for punk and metal.
