I played my Amer Std Strat P-bass as well as a Amer Special, MIM Std and a pretty cool MIM Special that looked like a Geddy Lee on a P body. I currently use a MIM P bass, which sounds pretty good actually, but it is a borrowed bass. 48 years on guitar. The last 9 months or so on bass. So I shopped for a long time, trying Warwick, Musicman and Fender mostly. Almost all the basses I tried sounded great in their own sound. But with each bass, I could not get the p-bass sound I wanted. Focused on Fenders and there was a notable jump in sound quality when going to the Amer Std and better. So that is what I got, the Amer with sunburst finish. Then I got this thing home and really took a good listen on my GK rig. WOW!! It was everything I heard and so much more. It is like the actual vibrations are articulated. The range of tones just from the tone knob is unbelievable. The build is flawless and the feel is like home. I feel like I have played this bass all my life because it feels like the bass of my dreams. There is a little bit of setup work to do. I have adjusted the pickups for consistency and very slight intonation adjustment. All in all, I love this bass and couldn't be happier.

Building on the "headline", there is at dead spot at the 7th fret on the G string. I took the guitar to a custom guitar maker near Seattle. FYI, he told me he owns 2 50s' P basses; both have a dead spot at C# on the first string. He has tried to repair countless others, but has concluded the defect can't be totally cured

Killer Bass and Excellant Service

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass with Rosewood Fingerboard:

This P Bass is my third and it's a dream. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Guitar Center (2 amps, 6 string electric, digital piano, professional sax, and ""odds and ends"") and always been more than satisfied with service and follow-up. My suggestion is if you want a guitar and live in the area, go to the Rt4 store for better attention. And ask for Bob. The Fender was delivered to my house and came fully set up and ready to go. I wanted to check it with a pro though and took it over to Bob at the store who put it through the ropes and confirmed that no adjustments were necessary. I wanted that P Bass sound that I don't get from my other basses and got it. Thanks guys.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass with Rosewood Fingerboard:

Purchased a lot of gear from Guitar Center. Then I bought this three tone AS P Base. I play though a GK MB Fusion 800 and GK CX 410 Speaker. I could not be more pleased with any Bass than I am with this one. It gives me "the" sound. Cannot describe it, but pick one up, play it and you will know exactly what I mean. Perfectly set up when I picked it up. Beautiful instrument.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass with Rosewood Fingerboard:

I traded in a Fender Precision Bass to get this American Standard Precision bass, and I wasn't prepared for the improvement in tone, quality, sustain, and playability that you get for just slightly over twice the money. I wish I had just gotten the AS version in the first place, but I guess you have to try things out. I wasn't sure I'd get serious about the bass, because I'm primarily a drummer and a guitarist. But now that I have this bass I could get some gigs with it because the thing itself sounds so good.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass with Rosewood Fingerboard:

4 strings, one split pickup, one volume and one tone control. What more do you need? Classic 3 tone sunburst finish, 34" scale neck, 20 medium jumbo frets, 1 5/8" nut, made in Corona, California. Still the ultimate in tone and playability just the way Leo Fender designed it. Duplicated by almost every other maker of bass guitars in some form or fashion but never equaled. In the words of the great Barry White, "the first, the last, my everything". James Jamerson, Duck Dunn, Pino Palladino, Sean Hurley, Roger Waters... With either flats or round wounds, the tone is sublime. Perfect setup right out of the box. Love this bass. Great job Guitar Center.

I have been playing bass for around 10 years. I am currently in two different bands. In one we play classic rock songs. The other is a bluegrass band, and the bass is great for both styles. The neck is smooth making it very fast. This is now my number one bass. My only regret is that I didn't get it sooner. I highly recommend this bass, buy it, you won't be disappointed!
