Fender introduced the American Standard Precision Bass V guitar in 1951, and its thick sound and indestructible build changed popular music. The American Standard Precision Bass V has a high-mass vintage bridge, Fender Custom Shop '60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, improved Fender tuners that are 30 percent lighter while keeping the classic look, richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, great-looking gloss rosewood fingerboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and Fender Tolex case.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass V:

Anyone with any musical background knows Fender. This 5 string precision is just another piece of history being made. Look back over the years and check out how many bassists have used Fender. Cliff Williams of AC/DC still uses Fender from time to time. Donald "Duck" Dunn, 'ME', Dusty Hill, Numerous others too many to mention here. That itself you say how great this product is. Go ahead, all you younger upcoming bass players, spend the $$ and buy the best NOW ! You will be glad you did.

    Best Uses

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass V:

I've been playing bass for 23 years now, and my first bass was Fender Precision Mexican made 4 string bass. I liked it, but it wasn't what I needed, so I had to upgrade. I avoided Fender basses from then on out, until now. I needed a good, solid passive bass for my country/southern rock project, and everything I read pointed to an American-made P bass. I purchased this 5 string American Standard P bass from GC online with my fingers crossed, hoping it would satisfy my needs. This bass is everything I could have imagined and more. With just a slight neck adjustment, this bass plays like a dream, and has the perfect sound that I've been searching for. I will continue to play my Stingray Slo Special in my metal project, but this Fender bass is tied with the Stingray as my other number 1 bass. I highly recommend this bass, and not just for country or southern rock, but for ANY genre.

      Classic with 5 strings

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass V:

I knew that I wanted a basic P-Bass that was of great quality with classic P-Bass features: P-bass body, passive, rosewood board with alder body, and the kicker: 5 strings. I also didn't want to pay a ton of money since it would be a #2 bass for me. I wanted a bass that would be the polar opposite of my main bass that it is maple/ash with active electronics and strung with stainless steel strings. I'm not going to mislead you, I was not expecting to buy a Fender. I looked into higher end brands, but most didn't have the feature set that I wanted at a price that I was willing to pay, so I decided to give this bass a shot, and if I didn't like it-I would return it. I have a strict rule that if a bass doesn't blow me away, I don't keep it.

I saw a couple of video reviews, read even more reviews, had a chance to play an American P-bass (4 string), and remembered my Uncle's original 1962-ish P-bass. Being a 5 string player, I knew that there would be little to no chance to find a store that stocks a P5. I opted to give GC online a shot.

The build quality is great. There aren't any issues. The flat wound set that I ordered is back ordered, so once those strings arrive, I'll string this thing up and give it a setup.

The sound is what you expect out of a passive Precision Bass. Delightfully fat and sits in a special place in the mix.

I am very impressed with this instrument.
