Overview

Fender's American Standard Jazz Bass V scored a giant bass hit with its introduction in 1960. With its sleek offset body; thin, fast neck and rich, growling tone, it was a raring, roaring racecar of a bass that quickly established itself as a must-have instrument. The new American Standard Jazz Bass V is an even finer instrument; a modern interpretation of a classic built for modern players.

Features include a high-mass vintage bridge, Fender Custom Shop '60s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, improved Fender tuners that are 30 percent lighter while keeping the classic look, richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, great-looking gloss rosewood fingerboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and Fender Tolex case.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V:

Overall very well built, the "blemished" classification was no problem: very minor marks here and there. But, for me, the sound was very bland, and I'd prefer a thicker neck, and was surprised that the string spacing was narrower than expected, about 17mm at the bridge.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V:

This is THE Fender Jazz Bass, the one that everyone tries to emulate. You can spend thousands more and not get a bass that has a better sound or playability. The fit and finish are perfect, the neck is butter, and the electronics are top notch. In the studio it has grear sustain, deep lows, and sparkling highs. Live it's pure thunder. This is the bass thaTt sets the standard for all others.

You need one of these. Or two.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V:

I own two of these 5 string Fender American Jazz basses, and they are my two hardest working basses. These are just amazing basses, the sound run through an Ampeg SVT Classic is incomparable. And these basses play themselves, I always say that I just hang on for the ride. Pick one up with confidence, they are absolutely worth every penny.

5 String Jazz in Olympic White with Rosewood Fingerboard = Sweetness!!!!

        By Brandon Caves

        from Cheyenne, Wy

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V:

I've had this guitar for about two weeks and I just can't put it down. After playing an Ibanez SR-950 for the last 20 years I can say that there is just no comparison. The Ibanez was nice and all, but there's just a whole nother level of quality with this Fender. It's like going from a Ford Mustang to a Ferrari. The mustang is nice and all, but the Ferrari is not only sick, but it's also truely something special in terms of quality and performance. The same holds true with this Fender. I got the 5 string in Olympic White and I literally can't find anything I don't love about this bass. It looks and sounds phenominal. I doubt I'll ever play anything else for the rest of my life.
