Overview

This American Standard Series Jazz Bass for left-handed players has a vintage body radius and contour for a classic vibe and feel. The body is rendered in premium alder for optimum tone and sustain. Its rosewood or maple fretboard features detailed fret and nut work. The neck is graphite-reinforced and has rolled edges for a broken-in feel from the get-go. HMV Bridge (high mass vintage) increases sustain, provides punchier tone, beefier looking plates and 3/8" diameter vintage saddles. String height adjustment screws have nylon patches for a tight fit that won't vibrate loose.

The left-handed Fender Jazz Bass has a 12-gauge cold rolled steel plate machined brass backstop that increases mass and enhances top end. Socket head intonation screws are engineered for a tighter fit, and are now more stable. Features Fender/Hipshot tuning keys. The work great, and are 30% lighter, minimizing neck dip. Classic 20:1 tuning ratio, cast zinc with aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, and steel clovers. Brass worm gears, steel worm drives.

With a thinner undercoat, the American Standard P Bass body breathes easier and has improved sound (more wood influence). Neck pocket paint buildup has been reduced by 40%, greatly improving the wood to wood connection/reaction.

SKB rectangular design bass guitar case, exclusive to Fender, has TSA recognized and accepted locks. Fiberglass reinforced nylon trigger release latching system, indestructible cushioned rubber over-molded handle with flush lock out. Injection molded feet and exclusive arched stacking system.

Great Bass

By BC

from Orlando, Florida

No doubt about it, this is an amazing bass for any lefty. Now, sad but true, there aren't a lot of lefty basses out there, but nevertheless, you can't go wrong with a Fender Jazz bass. From its classic good looks to its ease of playing, the bass has incredible versatility. I run mine through an effects board and with the exception of heavy metal, I can get a tone and feel to match any musical genre. I have mine set up very low with no fret buzz and it has a great tonal palette. The only changes I've done to mine is to add Dunlop strap locks and swap out the pickguard to a Warmoth Black Pearl. Otherwise, it is pure stock. It stays in tune and is very well balanced. I have both fretted and fretless & love them both. Fender Rules!

The name says it all

By Suraj Manik

The minute you hold this bass, you'll feel like your holding quality in ur hands. Very smooth neck, good action that can be changed, comes fully setup almost perfectly, depends from person to person. THE TONE - is to die for. Definately has the sweet classic fender tone. Will definately be your last buy if your looking for lush warm sweet tones. Not for Metal.

This sounds exactly how you would expect a high quality Fender J-Bass to sound. One of the most versatile basses around. You can dial in tones for punk, metal, reggae, jazz, blues, rock, and almost anything else you can think of.

There's nothing like a Fender bass...

By Alan Seeger

from Mission, SD

Whether itۡs the Jazz Bass or its sibling, the Precision, for more than half a century the Fender electric bass has been the industry standard. No other bass guitar is so instantly recognized and widely known. The Jazz Bass, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, provides players with a little more versatility in their tone by means of its dual single-coil pickups and the ability to mix the signals via individual volume controls and a master tone control. The bridge pickup on a J-bass provides a bright tone which helps to punch the sound of the instrument through a group of instruments. This particular J-bass is, of course, for southpaws. Right handed players can find the traditional instrument elsewhere on this site.
