Overview

Fender's American Standard Jazz Bass fretless scored a giant bass hit with its introduction in 1960. With its sleek offset body; thin, fast neck and rich, growling tone, it was a raring, roaring racecar of a bass that quickly established itself as a must-have instrument. The new American Standard Jazz Bass fretless is an even finer instrument; a modern interpretation of a classic built for modern players.

Features include a high-mass vintage bridge, Fender Custom Shop '60s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, improved Fender tuners that are 30 percent lighter while keeping the classic look, richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, great-looking gloss rosewood fingerboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and Fender Tolex case.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless:

I'm a guitar player and I've played quite a few fretted basses. So after deciding to buy my first bass I thought why not go with a Fender since I already own a Stratocaster and why not get a fretless, worst case scenario if I don't like it I can return it and get a fretted. I got it and couldn't be happier with how it functions and sounds. The craftsmanship is great and I could go on and on.

The only problem I had with buying it was that within a year the ends on the case started peeling, I'm guessing because of the glue, regardless if there was temperature fluctuation or not it I think it should have held up a little better. With Fender's great customer service and warranty they sent me a replacement. Which I then sold and used the money for an ABS hardshell case because I'm that sure it would have happened a second time.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless:

Waited a month for the bass to arrive. Immediately noticed the poor workmanship on the most critical part of a bass, the nut. There was hardly anything left of it and the slots were not right at all. The slot for the A string was so wide you could push the string side to side and so it buzzed horribly. The other strings also had excessive buzzing and rattling. The fret board was a very ugly light color which did not look like rosewood at all. Had it sent back and another one ordered. Once again the slot for the A string was way to wide causing excessive buzzing. After both I and the folks at guitar center called Fender several times without getting any help I decided to get a refund and forget about it. Guess Fender has gone down the tubes

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless:

The Fender American Standard Fretless Jazz Bass is *the* bass to get if you want a fretless electric. The superlatives are many, but all are applicable to this fine piece of musical craftsmanship. It is a really well made guitar, with the perfect feel, and it sounds really great. I am very happy with my purchase of this fine guitar.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless:

I only messed with fretless basses a couple of times and must admit I was influenced by the sounds of Jaco when considering this bass. I have an American fretted Precision and decided to get this bass from Guitar Center. I'm glad I did! First the bass is very comfortable to play and when I picked it up at the store, I had them throw some RotoSound Flatwounds on it and it sounds amazing!I love this bass and very satisfied with my purchase.

The best J-bass out of the bunch!

Comments about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless:

My favorite. Easy to play and nice action. I put a set of tapewound stings on it and it sounds just like an upright (but a whole lot easier to transport!) Money well spent!
