Right to the point it is: This guitar out of the box was spot on perfect! Finish, neck, case intonation all 10's I have 10 strats and 3 tele's all american made bought over the last 20 years. I am very particular about my set ups and never let a factory set up stay as it was with out some tweeking. Tuned up and played for hours can't put this one down. The compound radius neck is better then I expected. The pickups are very bright but thats what the tone controls on the amp are for!I don't really know what an original 1954 strat pickup would have sounded like and I'm sure back in those years there were differences between each guitar because of how they were wound. I like the pick ups and I'm sure with todays standards each guitar will be very close to the original. Every strat that I own is different in some way sometimes just subtle and sometimes radical. Clean does not get any better then this again not a metal guitar or all out rocker but does averything in between. I only use overdrive and delay as effects as well as clean with light reverb. No buzz from the frets string gauge is what I like 9's again not everyones liking but you can change to 10's and readjust the spring trem. The color of the sunburst is eye catching. I even like the gold hardware. Pictures do not do this guitar justice. MF has been my go to store for just about all of my guitar purchases and the people on the help line know there stuff. I belive this will keeps it's value and is a wise investment. All though mine will get played, scratched, and used no closet queen here. Highley recommend. Played thru Vox AC30, Bogner 40, Fender 65 Twin 15, Fender Deluxe 900, Line 6 Bogner tube and Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 combo. Wow is all I can say! There is some heaven on earth. Keep up the great work Fender and thanks MF for a great deal!

There's nothing like a Strat or Tele but there are quality control problems with these models as there were with the 2006. Come on Fender, get it together. You made great strides over the years and should not ship necks with a hump above the 12th fret or cases that mash the strings into the frets or pick guards that aren't flush with the body etc. If there are more returns than there are items in stock that's sort of a red flag.

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

OK, out of the box needed some setup, but this is not a "con" as hey, its natural wood and made a long trip from the factory. Fender's included manual explains all the normal user adjustments. At first the lower 3 strings had major fret buzz. I switched from the stock light gage to my favorite hybrid 9-11-16-26-36-46 string set, then adjusted the bridge and truss rod per Fender's specs. Easily achieved great action with zero fret buzz. Really liking the c-modern maple neck with compound radius shape, for me ideal for grabbing full chords down low, and still having a slim feel up on the high frets. Overall finish nicely done as it should be for the American price. This ash body is also very resonant, played acoustically sounds noticeably louder than my other solid body guitars. I have owned this for a few months now and plugged-in to several different amps, always able to get those instantly recognizable tones. I had tried many strats with several other available woods and pickup combinations, but IMO this model provides the most absolute pure stratocaster look & sounds.

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have American standard and deluxe Stratocasters and was expecting this guitar to be something super extraordinary, but was initially disappointed. However, once you start playing the guitar, you begin to realize that this guitar has a charm of all it's own! The guitar is super resonant, perhaps this is a result of its two piece light weight ash body, also the pick-ups are fairly bright but not harsh, their top end has a certain sweetness to it.
I have never owned or even played a Fender Stratocaster from the 1950's, but I kind of think that this guitar is sonically similar to the Stratocasters that Leo was building back then.

P.S. I didn't receive the commemorative book that was supposed to be included with this guitar but Musicians Friend's customer service is working on getting me one from Fender.

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays and sounds great. Used it on a couple of gigs and is a joy to play. One room I play on a regular basis has electronics so bad that every guitar I play buzzes badly. This is no exception. The only thing that works here is the Fender N3 noiseless pups I have installed in my cheap Fender knock off.

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

OK Folks. Here is how it is with this guitar, It is a well built and finished instrument that required only some minor set up to adjust it to my fit and feel.
The 60th strat is one very beautiful package that will make a fine addition to any collection. Mine came perfectly flawless and was obviously well inspected before leaving the fender factory. After stting it up to my style and feel it plays and sounds as good as it looks. Classic fender tones all through the spectrum.

I bought this Strat to eventually give it to my Grandson who was born this year 2014, so as he ages the guitar will also at the same time it is even named after him. It plays & sounds just as good or better than my 1979 strat and half as light.

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is an absolute gem of a guitar. I've been playing for over 40 years and this is one of the finest guitars I've ever played. I give it a A+ in what I consider to be the 3 most important categories: playability, sound, and looks. I'm blown away by the beautiful two tone burst color and the natural wood grain that comes through near the tail piece of the guitar. I've never owned a guitar with gold hardware before but it really suits this guitar well and looks great. The smooth satin finish on the back of the neck along with the 9.5" to 14" compound radius maple fret board makes for an excellent playing guitar even playing single note lead lines in the upper fret registers. No problem at all. And no fretting out when bending the high E or B strings in the upper frets too. Nice! The guitar plays itself. Most of my guitars (including my two other Strats) have a 9.5" radius. I'll never go back. Compound radius is where it's at for me. I use 9-46 Ernie Ball strings on all of my guitars (Fenders and Gibsons) so I'll probably put those on this beauty at some point. But the 9-42 set that came with the guitar feel and sound great. I decked the trem bar down since I don't like floating bridges. That took all of 5 minutes with a Phillips head screwdriver. Stays in tune pretty well even after doing deep dive bombs and I'm sure it will get even better in time as I break in the bar, the springs and the strings. I have two other Strats ('95 Strat Plus and an '02 Am Deluxe) and both have humbuckers in the bridge position. I wanted a Strat with true single coil pickups for that authentic vintage Strat sound. The '54 pups they put in this guitar sound fantastic in all 5 positions. The guitar sounds great clean or when using overdrive and other effects. Great for rhythm or lead. I'm blown away. If there was ever such thing as the perfect Strat. This is it!

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have played an Gibson SG for a couple of years. I picked up the 60th for fun just to try out and Wham!! What a great sounding guitar. The pick ups are awesome and the feel of the guitar is great. The transition to this guitar works out well for me. It feels light, the maple neck just glides smoothly when playing down the frets and the beautiful color and gloss just looks great. I like the addition of the gold hardware, the pearls, and the 60th engravings along this guitar. The sound is perfect for rock and blues as well as some soft jazz. And wait to you see the tweed case that comes with this baby along with fun accessories. I have now added Fender on my top list to play on for future gigs. Enjoy!

Comments about Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have owned many strats over the years, even bought a somewhat boutique strat through Pat's Guitars, and none of them and I mean none of them compare to this guitar. Every flip of the the pickup selector switch gives you a different guitar, the neck profile is fantastic, the action was dead on with absolutely no buzz, the tones that come out of this thing are just amazing with the classic strat sounds, this is custom shop quality, maybe even masterbuilt quality, feather light and just a joy to play, I don't feel like putting it down when I have it. I feel it is the biggest bargain out there, go to GC and try one if they can keep it on the shelf for very long because I had to have it as soon as I tried it. I am letting the secret out people, don't wait!!!
