Great Strat!

By Michael

from South Jersey

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I compared it side-by-side to the American Standard and American Deluxe Strats and left with this one. Great tone, and easily the best of the bunch with gain because the hot Texas Special pickups break up best. The other cool feature is the Greasebucket tone circuit. You can really dial down the treble without everything getting muddy -- even at 0! The humbucker delivers the extra punch you'll want for classic rock, and dialed down to 6 on the tone knob, it sounds downright Gibson SG-like. The neck is as smooth as silk; the jumbo frets improve my play and step-and-a-half string bends are a breeze. It was set up perfectly -- good action, zero fret buzz. And the best part: the price! It's nearly half the cost of the Deluxe. The only drawbacks: it comes with a lame gig bag (I opted for a hard shell case), and the tremolo is so-so. Bottom line: Thanks Fender for making a great axe! (Note: Guitarist magazine did a very accurate review of this, and I suggest that you read it if you are considering the Special.)

GET THIS

By Dr. Shredmaster

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

this is hands down the greatest stratocaster ive ever played. i played the american strat and a 70s strat but this american special strat beats all of them.if your looking to use this for metal dont fear you can get great pinch harmonics out of this and sound amazing on clean or metal distortion. this is an affordable guitar but should be twice as much so its a must have

Greal Value for the money!

By Eric

from Deforest, WI

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I've had mine for about a month now, and play it daily. Out of the box, it's a great little axe. I upgraded the trem to a 62 reissue, put a brass trem block, and graph tech saddles on. Now it's a screamer. The cleans shimmer and the humbucker has more depth. Don't get me wrong, it sounded good before, but it really shines with a few small upgrades. The only real problem I've got is the "Greasebucket circut" isn't all that greasy. In fact, mine doesn't seem to much of anything. It's possible I expected too much from this, then again, a little appreciable difference in the tone when you roll the knobs all the way back would be nice.

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This is possibly the best guitar I've played. I chose this guitar over a Gibson studio. You should seriously consider buying this guitar if your thinking about getting a new guitar.

A Must Have

By Scott

from Arizona

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for a month and it's amazing. I owned a 1973 Strat years ago and I hated it: the G string intonation was always off, and you had to be careful not to apply too much pressure when playing as it sounded out of tune. I just bought the Roland GR-20 synth and the pickup works best when you can adjust each string manually, and the Strat is best for this. The G string on this new model is not a problem. Action is awsome; for playability this axe gets top marks. And the pickup's are hot. I tried a MIM Srtat and it felt fine, but you could hear the difference in the pickups on this model; it's worth the extra money. The only negative to me is the bolt-on neck is not as comfortable in the higher frets as my Schecter C1A. Schecter has Fender beat for playability with the thru-body neck construction, but the Strat is hotter sounding and more fun to play. And the black on white color scheme is attractive. I strongly recommend this Strat model to anyone.
