Fusing classic Telecaster style with modern sound and features, the American Elite Telecaster is the original solidbody electric guitar reimagined for the modern guitarist who needs more from their instrument. With its stunning style, easy-playing performance and flexible sound that matches any playing situation, this Tele® was made to tear it up on stage or in the studio.

Featured on all American Elite instruments, the new 4th generation Noiseless pickups are only available in this series, and represent a quantum leap in pickup design. Combining authentic, vintage-style sound with effectively noise-free performance, these are the pinnacle of Fender’s noiseless pickup designs, generating sparkling cleans and fat, overdriven tones that scream with pure rock ‘n’ roll power.

Engineered for fast playing and effortless position changes, the compound profile neck with a 9.5”-14” compound radius fingerboard is ideal for all playing styles. A modern “C”-shape at the nut, the profile morphs along the length of the neck to a modern “D”-shaped profile at the updated neck heel, providing plenty of comfortable support for fret hand antics. Locking, all short-post tuning machines provide increased break angle at the bone nut for buzz-free performance. The truss rod wheel is positioned at the butt end of the neck for easy accessibility when adjusting neck relief.

Fender is renowned for head-turning style, and this guitar is no different—from the refined ergonomic rear contour that hugs the player’s body to the black chrome headstock logo and large pearloid fret markers this instrument will dazzle the audience with elegant style. The American Elite Telecaster is a bold new addition to the Fender family tree, a top-notch performer that can handle whatever music you might you throw at it. Includes a redesigned Elite Molded Case with TSA locks to provide increased protection for your cherished instrument.

Not for the vintage purist but the modern touches are thoughtful and well done. Beautiful tobacco sunburst over ash. The contoured neck heel is a work of art. The tone is a bit modern but nice.

Not sure I love the bright white binding, it is so white. Constructive criticism: edges of the rosewood fretboard should be smoother - they have a rough "wave" pattern. Subpar setup caused bends to fret out.

Okay, let me start by saying this, the feel, make, and tone of this guitar is awesome. All the new things Fender has implemented on the 2016 teles are great, from the S1 switch, Noiseless pickups, tapered body, etc.

Now, the reason I'm giving it only 3 stars (and I feel I'm being generous) is because I've bought, returned, bought and now am about to return again two of these telecasters already. Specifically the 2016 Fender American Telecaster Elite in Tobacco Sunburst.

The issue on the past two Elite's I had were the same. The Neck Pickup. First Elite I had, it didn't work at all, returned it. Second Elite got shipped in, and I opened it up right in the store, and again, neck pickup not working. Gave it to the guitar tech on hand and some how with his magic fingers he managed to get sound out of neck pickup. Took it home and not more than a week later, neck pickup is cutting in and out again, to the point of being unplayable really.

I'm just really upset that Fender is selling these for close to $2000 and they can't even get the quality assurance people or whoever checks these guitars out before shipping them to make sure the pickups, particularly the neck, are working properly.

And on top of all that, I work for Guitar Center. How am I supposed to pitch these guitars to my customers when I myself got two of them that were not working properly?

Anyways, I'm about to return the 2nd one again, and I hoping the third one will be the charm. But beware, CHECK THE NECK PICKUP before purchase.

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I have owned a Mexican Standard Telecaster for years and love it. When the Elite series was released I was very excited in not only the color options, but in the specs/features of this guitar. My love for the Mexican standard made me purchase this guitar without playing it - big mistake... The finish and details are stunning, this is by far the nicest non-custom shop Fender I've seen. The neck profile makes hitting the lower frets a breeze, and the white binding on the body gives this tele a unique look. Unfortunately once plugged in the guitar falls flat. The pickups have no depth, do not respond to overdrive well - truthfully I believe the Mexican tele sounds nicer even on a clean channel. It is a shame that a guitar priced in this range needs to have aftermarket pickups installed to make it sound well. I read another review on this site regarding the poor pickup sound quality, and I should have listened. If you don't mind putting a few hundred more into the guitar for nicer pickups, then the other features make this guitar worth the money - If not I would stick with a standard model tele. Big disappointment...

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar for recording purposes and I'm extremely impressed with it. So far, it's the best guitar I own and I've decided to upgrade my Strat to the elite series version as well. I find all the claims made by Fender to be accurate. It wasn't cheap, but it's well worth the expense. No flaws what-so-ever and looking fantastic is a plus maybe I didn't need, but is very welcome.

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I have several high end guitars. I've owned four telecasters in the past. This one is light in weight and the sculpted body is comfortable to play standing or sitting. Craftsmanship is superb. The pickups are dead quite but still have classic sounds. S1 switching in middle position increase loudness which is nice for lead playing. The guitar is stunning in its looks and has many sonic options. Overall this guitar is outstanding. The case is rugged and classy.

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

Great Tele, and exactly what you would expect... with a few cherries on top that is! 4th gen pickups are as noiseless as advertised, and this guitar sounds great! I'm so pleased with the purchase as well as the enhancements for 2016. I must admit though, not sold on the parallel/in series on-off option for the middle position on the switch. I can't really tell a drastic difference, and wonder if it could be an additional point for electronic failures further down the road. Paranoia aside, great guitar and would buy again without a 2nd thought!

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

The guitar itself is top notch. Ultimately playable, great neck, great fretboard, action is perfect. Finish is outstanding and looks great under stage lighting. I have the Autumn Blaze Metallic and it is stunning. Locking tuners, strap locks, upgraded saddles, tummy cut, pearloid pick guard are all great upgrades. The case is a nice inclusion with leather strap and hardware.

The not so good: pickups. I had high hopes that this new version of the Fender's Noiseless pickups. But as soon as I plugged in to my amps I knew they had to go. Shrill, way too much top end, not a lot of bottom, and not great clarity. I actually hate them. I have a set of Dimarzio Area T's in my other Tele which are a great match for the boutique pickups in my buddy's Whitfill Tele and those sound awesome. Tone-wise, my MIM Tele with the Area T's sounds light years better. Guess what I'm putting in? Kind of a minor blow to the purchase that you'd spend ~$1800 on Fender's new top of the line guitar only to have to replace the pickups in it.

Bottom line: great guitar that I will own for a lifetime, but Fender scores a major miss on the pickups.

Comments about Fender American Elite Telecaster Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This Tele has all the coolest features, the best of all worlds. The C to D shaped neck, short posts, N4 pickups, S1 switch, and cool colors. Sounds great running through a tweed Blues Jr. 15w. It's got twang, growl, plus the classic "chicken pickin'." sound! Looks great, plays great, all my bandmates are green with envy. I love the wood grains and the Tobacco Burst finish. The Rosewood fret board has light and dark striped natural wood grains running in it. I think it looks really cool, very unique, one of a kind.

The hard case is super cool! TSA ready. Looks like a bazooka carry case with lock! Plus, case is stackable for when I start adding to the Elite collection. This is as good as it gets and to me worth the extra coins. I have ordered a custom leather pick guard (+1 C-note), this thing is going to be a one of a kind gem.
