Overview

The Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar has a new compound-radius fretboard for effortless string bending anywhere along the neck. The staggered locking tuners improve tuning stability for stunt guitarists who like to bend behind the nut. New N3 noiseless pickups provide improved Telecaster tones for snappy bell-like chime with no hum.

Other features include a bound-top body with belly cut, S-1 switching, chromed brass bridge saddles, bound top and a beveled neck heel. Fender includes a new molded Fender-exclusive SKB case with glass-reinforced latches and TSA locks, cable, and strap locks with the American Deluxe Telecaster.

Fender N3 Noiseless pickups
N3 Noiseless pickups deliver the best of yesterday and today, because they deliver landmark vintage Fender tone and response without the hum that can plague single-coil pickups. Using an improved stacked coil-coil design, N3 Noiseless pickups are specially tailored for each Telecaster pickup position. The insulated metal core of each pickup position type differs in thickness and composition for enhanced tone.

Fender has fine-tuned the sized, shape, and wire gauge of the pickup coils to balance the magnetic responsiveness essential to great tone. Fender N3 pickups represent a welcome return to the warmth and clarity of alnico magnets. An Alnico 5 magnet is used in the bridge position, Alnico 2 in the middle position, and Alnico 3 for the neck position.

twang paradise

By Strokemeister

from McAllen TX

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a dreaam!! Great attention to detail the finish is impecable and the pickups are just to die for!! Great spanky twangy tone (best when combined with maple neck) this guitar is perfect for country, blues, rock punk or almost any type of music although i didn't LOVE the sound with heavy distortion on. Great sounds like the Clash and classic blues... the neck is fast and smooth, action was just perfect on mine absolutely loved it!! =D

Keep coming back

By Will Hunter

from Boston, Ma.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is my second American Deluxe Tele, and my fourth Tele overall. I kept buying them, trading for something else I thought I wanted, and always returned to the Telecaster. I won't make that mistake again. This American Deluxe is the best of the bunch. Elegant and raunchy at the same time, this guitar does what it's supposed to do. Crystal clean bell like tones from the noiseless pickups, then kick in a pedal, or B channel on the amp, and it sings, spits and growls with the best of them, all the while retaining what it is that make this guitar an all time favorite: the tone. This one is in Olympic white pearl, with a maple neck and fretboard. The pickguard is tortoise shell as is the binding, and the look is stunning. Fit and finish are perfect, as they should be for this price. Comfort and playability are perfect as well. I was a Strat guy for a long time, and I really wanted to be a Les Paul guy, but I always found my way back to the Telecaster. And I'm glad I did. This guitar is a keeper.

You must try this guitar!

By Brian

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I was in Guitar Center, not particularly looking for a Tele at all, but trying out new amp heads. I went through my usual barrage of Les Paul's, SG's, Gretsch, PRS and ESP models. I didn't currently own a guitar with single coil pickups but I wanted to put the amp through all it's paces. I picked up a few Strats that sounded good & I liked what the amp was doing. I saw this gorgeous Tele hanging high up on the wall in Aged Cherry Burst with the white binding and figured it has to sound at least half as good as it looks. I immediately noticed the feel. The weight of the instrument was certainly lighter than a Les Paul, but still had more heft than I expected from the other Fender's I'd been trying out. The neck was smooth as silk to play and not at all "sticky" as some finished maple necks can be. Giving it the once over, the quality control from Fender is impecable! The instrument is physically flawless. Of course all the expected Tele twang was there right away with the bridge pickup. The neck pickup was smooth and rich. I tried the middle position which sounded very cool, and then hit the "S1" switch and was FLOORED by the sound! All of this warm, harmonically rich and driving tone came pouring out of this instrument and I was DONE! I was totally hooked on this guitar!!! The cleans are like the glassy surface of a calm lake and the drive you get is smooth and articulate. But it also screams on high gain lead settings too! Letting you hear all the notes and voicings clearly. I threw a few bucks down and put it on layaway, came back with a few old pedals to trade in and took her home on my next paycheck! Now of course no guitar is ever perfect. As musician's we all know this. There's no instrument that gives you every sound in the world which is the only reason I can't give it 5 stars. I wish I could give a 4.75 stars on the rating. But if you're a guitar lover you will not want to pass this up! It's a phenomenal instrument! I love playing it, and light up every time I see it hanging up on the wall in my studio. Go and check it out today!

Excellent, great playing guitar

By Tim

from NJ

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds great, plays amazingly, and is very light in my (les paul) opinion. I walked into a guitar center looking for something completely different and was floored by how well it sounded. Great cleans, can be twangy if you're into that. Also great blues crunch, sounds fantastic out of an old fender. Not to mention it looks great. Definitely will not dissapoint!

Would've, could've, Should've...

By iridium Lee

from nY, NY

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

When I was in the market for a fender, I was advised that I should get a tele. I ended up getting a strat anyways. I play hard rock/metal. It's really hard to explain, but the tele just sounds heavier and dirtier than a strat. If I could go back in time, or find someone to sell my strat to, i'd get the tele instantly. Strats and teles play very similar, it's the sound and tone that is different. I'd recommend this for you hard rockers.. Perfect tone..

Turning heads regardless if its plugged in or not

By Justin W. Taylor

from Ponca City, OK

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

My first few electric guitars were 300 to 400 dollar-range low end versions of the Fender Telecaster. I just couldn't find the sound that I was looking for. I slowly realized after listening more closely that I was producing mediocre sound using mediocre equipment. Oh man, if I could do it all over again. About two months ago I purchase the Aged Cherry Burst Fender American Deluxe Telecaster with maple neck...a gorgeous professional grade instrument that gets just as many compliments in the rack on-stage as when it's being played. The belly cut body makes those hours on stage and at practice much more comfortable and the S-1 switching gives me a greater range of tonal possibilities for finding just the right one. If you are looking for an electric guitar with great looks, accurate sound, and excellent quality, this is the guitar for you. I was so impressed with the guitar, I sold off all my lower end electric guitars and purchased my second Fender American Deluxe Telecaster in Olympic Pearl with maple neck and Rosewood fretboard just so I can have a second one waiting in the wings in a different tuning. Now all I have to do is find another song in a third tuning to have a good excuse to purchase another one! If your are a serious musician contemplating a Fender American Deluxe Telecaster but not sure if the extra cost is worth it, believe me, you will be money ahead by going ahead with this quality guitar. My hats off to Fender on this one. - JT Ponca City, OK

An American Icon

By Adam

from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Where to start? One of these sweet babies caught my eye in a Guitar Center I was at. I could NOT help it. I absolutely HAD to try it! Everyone from the likes of John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) to Weezer uses Telecasters. With that in my knowledge, I took it down from the rack and hooked it up to the nearest amp (which by the way was a Line 6). As I sat in the provided stool, I noticed the feel of the neck. the smoothness. How thin it was. The weight of the guitar startled me. It felt like a feather. I then made myself comfortable and adjusted the knobs and pickup switch to my liking. Then, I began to shred. After playing this American Icon for what seemed like a few hours, I finally had to put it up, for if I didn't, it would probably have been stolen. This guitar was irresistible in every way. If you don't have one of these hanging/standing in your preferred playing area back at home, you defiantly need to pick one up. Telecasters have been around since it's debut as the "Broadcaster" in 1949. It became Telecaster in late 1950 due to the wide-growing popularity of television. With the respect this guitar has earned, ask yourself this: "Why don't I have one?"

A Fender

By Jason B.

from Winnetka,CA

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Too clean sounding for my taste, however perfect for more clean sounding music. The feel is really nice, the quality is very nice, but as far as the price goes, it's kind of disappointing. Many other lower priced Telecasters/Strats cost the same, and tbh play very close. I would recommend going for a cheaper Fender that plays about the same. -1 star for price.

Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar

By Patrick Repaci

from Port Chester, New York

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have had the good fortune to see a lot of great guitars come through my home studio. One of my past times is buying and selling fine guitars. The hunt is the aphrodisiac and recently I came across a pair or nice Telecasters that I picked up and held onto for a while. One of my recent "finds" was an Fender American Deluxe Telecaster whose serial number dates it to 1999. Remarkably the body neck and electronics were absolutely flawless as this musician was real careful about the care and feeding of these pristine Teleۡs. like to gig with all the nicer guitars that come my way and the Teleۡs are no different. We play a local restaurant called the Maplewood on a regular basis. The clientele is a comprised of nice mix of cultural backgrounds who generally like to dance and have come to expect events at this venue. I like to go in with a set list that caters to this crowd that contains a lot of R&B with some contemporary blues that keeps a crowd dancing. So on this night we threw in a few Temptations, Four Tops, CoCo Montoya, Robben Ford and Rod Piazza and Lucky Peterson tunes. It is soon apparent that I am having a bit of a time dialing in my tone for the room for about three songs into the first set and realize the American Deluxe Telecaster actually has responsive tone controls. I needed to dial back the controls on the Rivera Chubster to a more neutral position and then found a comfort zone handling all eq from aboard the guitar and Fulltone controls. I found that E7 chords had real Chicago credibility pumping out funky Chicago Blues Rhythms behind a tenor player sitting in for the night. The American Deluxe Telecaster was really fun to play and I soon found myself in the ۡ̏zoneۡݕ_. Laying into a solo on Coco Montoyaۡs ۡ̏You Didnۡt Think About Thatۡݕ_ actually raised goose bumps on my arm. I waved the band onto another 24 bars on my solo which meant everyone got an extra 12 which essentially cuts the band loose and takes everyone to the place where we like to be. You canۡt rehearse this kind of fun. Sometimes it happens, like lightning, and you either have it or not. The American Deluxe Telecaster inspired me into having a really tight night with my solos and I ended up getting a little more creative than usual. The 10-46 Gibson Vintage strings are a good choice as the nickel really rings out with clarity and Nashville like tone. Yeh, this was a nice fit. Overall this is an AMAZING guitar and i highly reccomend buying it if you have the money!

Fender Deluxe Tele

By Nate

from Fort Collins, Colorado

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for someone looking for that nice clean tele sound. I did however have some trouble with my S-1 system, and ended up taking out my neck pick-up and replacing it with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity. Besides that, it has really low action, which works well for me bending my blues notes. I would definately recommend it to anyone.

I have to add this

By CHRIS CUTTER _

from far far northern california coast

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I wrote a very positive review for this excellent guitar, but like a lot of commentors I dismissed it as a lead guitar instrument. After spending 6 weeks playing this everyday and hearing others play it as well, I have to say this guitar rocks just as hard as my Gibson ES 137 semi-hollowbody with humbuckers. The tone is thinner and lighter, but can be thickened wonderfully with overdrive and chorus or whatever you normally use. It serves as a welcome change from humbucker-driven axes that may sound a little dark at times. If someone was considering buying this as a first and maybe only guitar to get serious on, they would not be disappointed. I am now a huge telecaster fan.

Can't keep my hands off of her

By JILL

from Howell, NJ

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I originally purchased the Aged Cherry American Deluxe Telecaster through an online store. I went through a couple of them due to issues and spent about $80 in return shipping fees. During the Thanksgiving Holiday, I walked into my local Guitar Center (GC). They were having a 17% off holiday sale so I purchased the Butterscotch Deluxe Telecaster. This one had serious issues with the bridge and nut. I think someone bought it, tried to adjust the neck, messed it up, and returned it. GC took it back no problem (and no shipping fee). So GC ordered me a brand new Aged Cherry Deluxe Telecaster from the factory (with the 17% off). Thanks to GC, this new Aged Cherry American Deluxe Telecaster is amazing. No issues what so ever. Thanks for getting me a guitar that works at an amazing price. There are some folks out there who put the Deluxe down because it's not an original Tele. They say if it doesn't make noise, then it's not a Fender (sounds ridiculous doesn't it). I guarantee if Leo Fender had the N3 technology back in the 50's, he would have scrapped the original single coils. I've always admired the simplicity of the Telecaster. A 3 way blade, one volume and one tone. Despite the simplicity, this guitar is capable of a wide range of tones. The N3's produce sparkling, bell like clean tones or crazy distorted tones (without the annoying 60 cycle hum). Along with the compound radius neck, locking tuners and S1 switching, this is one unbelievably serious workhorse. If you love the true Tele sound, want flexibility in tone, want comfortable play ability, and want a guitar that stays in tune and doesn't make noise, than you've just found the Holy Grail.

Great guitar

By Christopher

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Solid guitar, I've always considered myself more of a strat man but this guitar gave my American Strat a run for it's money! I personally feel the best part of the guitar is the middle setting in the switch selection. I can't quite describe just how lovely the tone is, it produces an astounding classic rock, country ,finger pickin' awesomeness that only Fender can bring.

Great guitar, built well, plays very easily

By Mike H.

from New York

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I was a little worried that this guitar couldn't handle the type of music I regularly play, which is heavier rock music, I just knew I had to have it after playing it in the store. When I got it home, I was blown away how heavy you could get this guitar to sound. I play it out of a JCM800 and let me tell you, it sounds so much than my Les Paul. The guitar is built very solid, construction is very good. It came with a very durable hardshell case that I have flown with four times. I bought this guitar just because of how nice it looked and how it played without thinking about how it would sound in my band, and was surprisingly blown away by the tone it can get. Don't let the single coils fool you, this guitar can do it all.

Fender hits a home run!!

By CHRIS CUTTER _

from Very Northern California

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I went into GC ostensibly buy a Gibson SG. I had been researching them extensively and was just trying to figure which sub-brand I was going to to get. (I bought an ES 137 custom last year and I love it.) I played about 5 of them in the privacy of their bass room and was simply not impressed. As I was putting them away I walked by the Fender display. I already own a 2001 American Standard Fat Strat HHS and I really dig it. My eyes caught the teles which I had also been lusting over. I tried out several of them - a Koa (nice), a vintage with a 7.5 radius and the old style bridge, and an ASH. I fell in love with an aged cherry American Deluxe with a maple neck. I was just smitten by its striking beauty, but when I played on that buttery smooth maple neck with that cool compound radius (starts at 9.5" at the nut and goes to 14" at the end of the neck) that pretty much closed the deal. I was so impressed with the quality of the workmanship - the great finish, awesome color and the cool white binding. I loved the beveled contour top of the body and the SI control switch on the volume knob. I was really impressed with the locking tuners and I changed the strings to 10s as soon as got home. (Much better tone, by the way.) I also straightened the neck a hair from 0.011 relief to about 0.008. I lowered the strings a hair and made sure the radius at the bridge was 14". (Fender had set this guitar up perfectly - I just like to do my own set-ups.) The N3 pickups sound great - a typical tele sound. I can play rock, country, and even nice jazz stuff on this guitar. By the way, I have never heard an electric guitar play open chords so beautifully. Barre chords further on the neck are effortless and clean sounding. Right now I am thinking that this is for me, mostly a rhythm guitar. I will most likely keep playing blues and rock leads on my Gibson ES 137 and Strat- at least until get more familiar with my new tele. That does not mean others will not find this to be their dream shredding machine, it just seems to have a different purpose in my eyes. I really feel that this guitar is an instant classic and I believe that Fender quality just keeps getting better and better. This is a wonderful, wonderful guitar.

Best guitar ever

By Emil Jakovcevic

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've been eyeing this guitar for over a year and finally pulled the trigger. WOW, I just can't put her down. I got the 3-color sunburst and I can't get over how beautiful it is in person. I literally can't stop looking it at. Second, it plays like butter. The neck is awesome, bending from top to bottom is very nice as advertised. The tone choices of a tele are always great, but the added S-1 switch makes this guitar perfect for me. I play different genres and this tele is perfect for all. The S-1 in the middle position rocks almost like a les paul. And of course, it twangs like teles do. I'm also a big fan of the little extras, and Fender really is awesome. The guitar came in a very nice flight case, which had a nice guitar strap, a cable and locking tuners inside. So, i just plugged it in and went for it. Great buying experience.
