Overview

The Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster has all the modern features today's guitarists require. The compound radius fingerboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and N3 Noiseless pickups provide improved Stratocaster tones for sparkling bell-like chime with no hum. Reconfigured S-1 switching offers other distinctive tonal options; other features include staggered locking tuners, two-point synchronized American Deluxe tremolo bridge with pop-in arm, and beveled neck heel.

Fender N3 Noiseless pickups
N3 Noiseless pickups deliver the best of yesterday and today, because they deliver landmark vintage Fender tone and response without the hum that can plague single-coil pickups. Using an improved stacked coil-coil design, N3 Noiseless pickups are specially tailored for each Stratocaster and Telecaster pickup position. The insulated metal core of each pickup position type differs in thickness and composition for enhanced tone, and Fender has fine-tuned the sized, shape, and wire gauge of the coils to balance the magnetic responsiveness essential to great tone. N3 pickups represent a welcome return to the warmth and clarity of alnico magnets. An Alnico 5 magnet is used in the bridge position, Alnico 2 in the middle position, and Alnico 3 for the neck position. Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Pickup switching: 5-position blade and S-1 push/push

I love this guitar. I waited for over a month before writing this, as I wanted the newness to wear off. My other Strat, a Highway One, outfitted with a Duncan Hot Rails neck, Lil 59 in the middle and a Pearly Gates humbucker in the bridge is a great sounding guitar. My new American Deluxe with the S1 switching and three SC single coils is every bit as good sounding but in a very different way. I play through a Blues Jr., a Hot Rod Deluxe and a Princeton 65, but this thing really sounds the best through a tube amp. The build quality is excellent and I have no complaints whatsoever. I bought mine in 3-tone sunburst with a rosewood neck and I have to admit, as good looking as it is, it does show smudges and minute scratches easily. The American and the Highway 1s are great guitars, but the Deluxe is much better in looks, feel and sound. All in all, I'm very pleased and if I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy this guitar. One last thing this guitar comes with the standard American series, made in China, plastic hard-shell case which is, in my opinion, a piece of junk. Spend the extra $120.00 and get the tweed American made case. It looks great and is an all around better case.

Like other reviewers, I found the pickups on the deluxe model thin, with no distinctive tone, no matter the witch position and the S-1 switching. For $1500.00 one would think that fender would provide great sounding pickups. Although the guitars is beautifully finished, I for one do not care for the compound radius neck, because it makes barre chords more difficult, going way down the fretboard. further, I never heard anyone complain about note bending on a American Standard Strat, with its 9.5" neck radius. To me the American Standard is what the Strat is all about. Save yourself $500.00 and get one instead.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Got the scratch and dent model for under a grand and I am pleased as punch with he purchase. I absolutely love the 2015 Deluxe as it is such a sweet ride with all the bells and whistles. not to mention wood and finish is beautiful and it plays fantastic with the modified c and rolled edges on the neck. Played pretty decent right out the box but like most I have a certain way I like my git-fiddle setup and dialing it in was relatively painless. Fit and finish of the guitar is excellent. As far as the scratch and dent it has a dent on the body on the front top about and 1/8' round and not deep but it is there. It took me a few minutes to spot it also has a small gash on the back corner of the case both "dents" are purely cosmetic and do not bother me in the slightest as I don't buy wall-hangers.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Purchased this guitar as "Used Condition 1" after returning a American Standard. The guitar arrived truly untouched with plastic still on the pickup covers. This is the best out of the box setup I have ever seen. The action was low without fret buzz and the intonation was perfect. The N3 Pickups are fantastic honestly. I would consider myself a bit of a tone snob, insisting on Mogami platinum cables and tube changes every 6 months. I can honestly say that the N3s sound as good or better than any Texas Specials or Duncans I have ever played. The fit and finish are simply amazing for a guitar at this price. Buy this guitar, you will not be disappointed!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

for the price, the greatest guitar one can buy. The playability is awesome. The neck is smooth, the frets are smooth. The bridge combined with the locking tuning pegs work super well for tuning stability. The tone options on the pick-ups are almost endless due to the s-1 switch. Personally my favorite guitar when playing live, and that's with owning a Gibson ES-339. Give on of these a try!

            The power of Burgundy Mist!

            By Tim

            from Nashville, TN

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I needed another strat like I needed a hole in the head, but I was drawn to finish of this guitar for some reason. Granted it's not for everyone, but I think Burgundy Mist holds a special place for fans of the vintage Fender finishes. I have a 2005 American Deluxe, and compared to that it holds up well, although the 2014 isn't superior. My only complaint is that Fender stopped using the LSR roller nuts on these models. They are so much better than the synthetic bone (euphemism for plastic) that are currently stock on these models. The N3 single coils are very bright. I had to roll the tone down to fatten it up a bit. This American Deluxe is capable of all the classic strat tones you'd expect, but it's also extremely versatile for whatever style you're playing. Although it's a little on the heavy side, the guitar is very comfortable and a joy to play. And again - that finish - WOW! It's not perfect - but it's very close. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could. Either way - Fender is still making quality American Made products, and there's something to be said for that.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I looked at several different Stratocasters before finally deciding on the American Deluxe. Fender has done it again with this model! The playability of the maple neck is smooth as butter. The clarity and tone of the N3 pickups are amazing. With the addition of the S1 switch there are an array of sounds for your tonal palette. I also have a SSH Strat, and an Epiphone Les Paul, but the sound from a SSS pickup Stratocaster is truly unique! The sparkle and snap of the pickups are amazing! There is nothing like a USA made Strat! You cannot go wrong with this guitar. I have always wanted a Fender Stratocaster and am very pleased with this model. Time to jam!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I selected the 3-tone sunburst with rosewood fretboard. For the past 6 years I've owned and played Fender maple fretboards, exclusively. I recently rediscovered the rosewood on the C shape neck and had to get it back into my arsenal. The S-1 in this 2014, is different from the S-1 in my primary electric, a 2010 V neck w/maple fretboard. I have all the tone I can use, now. Well built, beautiful, feels good & sounds great! It's everything I asked for. Thanks Fender & Musician's Friend!

Bought Fender Stratocaster American DeLuxe. Saved an additional 30% by purchasing a Used Condition #2, but instrument appears new, with all case candy and protective clear layer and stickers on pickguard. Set up by David Higginbotham at Templar Instrument Repair. He said it had the best finish he had ever seen on a Strat, noiseless pickups have great tone, S-1 switching is very useful, and neck perfect for his hand. Stock aged white hardware matched the aged white pearl pickguard I selected. All this plus locking tuners, tight tremolo arm, and bullet-proof case. Fender and Musician's Friend are a great team. Can not be beat!
