Meat and Potatoes Bass

By El Esteban del rocas

from Niles, MI

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I wanted a jazz bass, so I went to check some out. The Marcus Miller was one that went home with me, and this was the other. It was an older model, so it had the S1 switch, but swapped the pickups out with the new Samarium Cobalt pickups and love it. Every bass player needs a jazz bass, no matter what style you play: it conquers them all.

Great Bass.

By Smith

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I own a music man stingray and then picked one of these up and switched over to it immediately. This is one of the best basses I have ever played. Played through a mark bass 4x10 w/ 1x15 and a 500watt mark bass head, I doubt you will find a better tone then the one that it produces.

Worth the extra cost

By Studio 139

from Kalamazoo, MI

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

The Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass is a sweet instrument. The extended EQ makes getting your tone easy, the extra detailed fret work and set up are worth the extra money over the standard. The pickups are good and when the bass is properly set up they are well suited to most styles of music where the bass is fingered. Fusion players will want to consider swapping out the pick ups. This is an essential instrument for any bass player.

Incredible clarity and tremendous low end

By Michael

from Murfreesboro, Tn

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I bought one of these 2 days ago. I traded my Music Man Stingray 4 string in. I have never played a bass that is as incredibly clear as this Fender. There just isn't any "noise". I've also never heard this kind of low end from a 4 string before and I have owned several. I think I'm finally hearing my sub for the first time. The controls are very sensitive and effective (a good thing). In other words it's not like some basses where you crank the knob and there's little difference in tone. A small turn on a knob on this and the tone and sound change considerably. There's lots of range to play with.

The best instrument I have ever played

By Tony H.

from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I bought this bass to replace my 1976 Jazz bass which was in need of retirement. I needed a bass that would equal or surpass the quality of my '76. The active electronics of the American Deluxe Jazz Bass were an extremely nice surprise over the passive electronics of my '76. The on board 3-band EQ was like a godsend for my tone. I play this bass through an Ampeg rig which came even more to life after adding this bass to my setup. Now I don't even have to worry about my EQ anymore, maybe a mid or bass boost depending on the room and the song. Basically, now I set all my tone controls to nominal (Ampeg and Bass) and it sounds like a million dollars. I play in a high volume, high energy blues trio and this bass completely supports the harmonic structure when the guitarist switches to his solos. The action on this bass is what I have been trying to obtain on my '76 for years. I special ordered the instrument I wanted (Montego Black with gold pick guard and Rosewood fingerboard)and when it arrived all it needed was about 3/4 turn of the truss rod for the neck and a slight adjustment at the bridge. The action is impeccable. I have been able to play things on this bass that my old one held me back from due to always fighting the action. Playing gigs with this bass are now much easier and enjoyable. Perfect weighting between the body and the neck cause no neck sink. Everyone who hears this bass, musician and listener alike, comment on its sound at every gig since I got it. Again, this bass rocks!! If you are looking to replace or add a bass to your arsenal, this is your guitar. I also highly suggest this axe for serious beginners who want to start with a high quality instrument. There is nothing like an American made Fender!!

Cover all bases

By dave v.

from grand blanc, mi.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I bought this online.Had a 75 jazz bass before and I knew that the update would be great. I won. The looks and quality was what I expected from fender. I added gold hard wear, pick-up covers and the viberation from the covers added to sustain in the output sound. I ordered the best that covers all styles of music and it proved it's worth. Beware the buying this bass may prove to be the last bass you every buy.

Rulez all - but hardshell case...

By Dmitry Kachko, 15 years with bass

from Bethesda, MD

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

Greate bass, wide range of tone, high sensitivity, sustain and attack, no noise or hum, superb body quality, and frets are just fine - plus good strings, cord, straplocks, leather strap, finish improver. But case is complete garbage. One of four locks is very hard - case is deformed and I adjust it every time to close. Moreover, keys are not fit for locks! Such a dissapointment for the one with "Fender" name on it. Sorry guys, I'll brought it to the trash. Thanx for the brilliant bass, anyway.
