I fell in love with the cherry burst with maple neck. It is finely crafted guitar. The feel and the looks are stunning. The fret board is super smooth - the best I've ever laid my hands on.I also own a Lonestar Strat with Seymour Duncans but it is a cut below the Deluxe but fun to play nonetheless. The sound/tone are too die for BUT the tone controls have to be all the way to 10- maxed out in order to get the shimmer and chime. I am not sure if it is because the nature of the SCN pickups or the choice of capacitors Fender used in these guitars. Lower the tone and you get a MUDDY tone. The wiring is another issue. In a non-S1 set-up the tone control cloests to the bridge pickup controls only the bridge. Not so with this guitar, the bridge tone control also controls the middle pickup so that if you playing lead with the bridge at 5 on the tone control and switch to position 2 (neck +mid pick ups), your tone will be MUDDY unless you go back and max out the bridge tone control. FENDER, ARE YOU LISTENING? If these issues are corrected,in my opinion, the Fender Strat Ash Deluxe will shame all the Les Pauls and PRS out there no matter what price tag they bear. SO GET TO WORK FENDER. Would also help if you can post the wiring diagrams of the wiring upgrade.

This guitar growls

I was very fortunate to get the ash body, Madeira sunburst, with rosewood neck before Fender stopped making them. Finish is beautiful. Sound is clean with a capital "C". From the factory, the action and intonation is near perfect. I play it through a Vox AC30. If you belong to the Fender club, this is a must have addition to your collection. If you've never owned a Strat, buy this one. Is it the best guitar in the world? I don't know. Is it the best that I have played? Yes! And I've been playing for 50 years.

It dont get better than this!

I am so glad that I bought this guitar, I absolutely love to play it, and I dont get tired after hours of play. I have been a les paul player for 20 years and have been loyal to gibson, but no more, I will play nothing else.

Guitar for Guitar Player's

SImply put-the best strat I have ever played, hands down. The sound of this guitar is fantastic, the S-1 switch adds quite a dimension to it, it can really help to "beef up" your sound, especially when playing in a trio when you need a little more heaviness to your tone. The neck shape is superb, and the ash body is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with this guitar!

My new #1

By B.T.E.

from somewhere near Nashvegas, TN

This is the guitar I've been waiting for. Action, Frets, Playability, Sound, Looks, but hey it "IS" a ~Fender Strat~! I did do a lil' cosmetic modification on my sunburst, but.. it was awesome straight off the wall, ( I just helped make it perfect). The s-1 is a cool addition and mine has the blues tone max for the mid/bridge pup conf., way cool sound possibilities.

Simpply Irresistible

For the past two years I have been playing on a Jackson with EMG pickups and a 3 position pickup switch...for the most part it served it's purpose, mostly for metal. When I picked up the American Deluxe Strat I knew there was no other guitar for me. There is such a wide variety of tones it seems almost endless. The guitar is beautifully crafted and and for lack of better words...sexy. Yeah you can get ok sounds from Gibsons but have fun paying thousands of dollars for the name on the headstock. Anyways all the greatest guitar players in history played strats.

Well worth the price, a definate keeper

I've had this guitar for over a year now and it only gets better. I opted for the Tobacco Burst with Rosewood fingerboard and couldn't be happier. The Samarium cobalt pickups manage to put out all of the bite you'd expect in a Stratocaster, while cancelling the noise normally associated with single coils. The S-1 switch works just as advertised, with sounds ranging from classic Telecaster to mild humbucker thickness. The fretboard is a dream to play on with no rough edges, and the Abalone fret markers are a classy detail. The finish is flawless. All in all this is a great guitar that is not only comfortable to play, but a pleasure for the senses. Truly a modern classic that will stand the test of time if cared for properly. Well done Fender!

from nowhere

When I first tried this guitar at the store, I knew I had to have it. When I finally got it home and plugged it into my amp, I was amazed. This guitar can give anywhere from the nitty-gritty 'Skynyrd sound, to that Buddy Guy tone we all love. Once you start playing it, it's hard to put it down.
