Fender’s Classic series ’70s Precision Bass authentically evokes the era when the first electric bass rocked with more versatile use than ever, from prog to punk and metal to funk. Vintage touches include bass-side thumb rest (first adopted in 1974), ’70s-style large headstock logo and bound neck with block inlays.
Features also include an alder body, C-shaped maple neck, maple fretboard with 9.5” radius and 20 vintage-style frets, classic split single-coil pickup, three-ply black-white-black pickguard, knurled control knobs (volume, tone), vintage-style four-saddle bridge, and ’70s-style “Fender”-stamped open-gear tuners.

This is a really comfortable bass to play. the neck is definitely a p neck, but it is a little flatter and faster to me than a standard p. Kind of in between a standard p and a geddy lee jazz. The workmanship is really top notch. the bass arrived perfectly set up (neck, intonation, it was almost in perfect tune even!). I bought the 3TSB and it is fantastic. I've never been a huge fan of SB fenders, but this bass changed my mind. The pickups are solid as far as I can tell. It sounds very similar to my MIA Highway 1 pbass. I do wish they had included a HMV bridge, but perhaps that is reserved for MIA basses, not the MIJ/CIJ ones. I had a few issues with my order from GC, but I must say they stepped to the plate in a fair way and we reached an agreement that got me my bass relatively quickly and at a fair price. You will not regret adding this bass to your arsenal. It will quickly become your favorite axe.
Bought my Fender 70s Precision bass a few weeks ago, have been playing it several hours every day, and could not be more satisfied. Had a Fender Jazz since 1969 and thought it was the only one for me but this new 70s Precision changed my mind. Love the neck and the tone of the bass. Can get that old school classic as well as a more modern driving sound just by using the tone knob.I got the sunburst and it looks even better in person than in the pictures. Fit and finish appears flawless. Even liked the set up and strings that came on the bass. The bass is lighter than my Jazz which is a plus. Based on the solid way the bass feels I would not hesitate to use it without a backup.
