Excellent amp all around. Very good string to string clarity. Tight tones from the ample 10" Jensen, beautiful Fender clean tones plugged straight in with nice tube break up beginning at "5", this amp along with most tube amps takes pedals very well. It works great in the bedroom without blowing out your ears, volume at "3" yields good sonic interpretation. I like it because it is very quite, little to no hiss and excellent tube driven reverb, great for mic recording and is suitable for most small gigs. Very portable and well built with built in tremelo with footswitch. My quest ended when I bought this amp, I tried the Laney Lionheart which was a very solid amp with a darker British voice and so it did not have the spanky Fender tone, from there I tried the Supersonic but found that the effects loop was very noisy even at levels below 12 o'clock and the reverb had intermittent audible clicks and ticks, yes this amp is a little pricey but it is rich in vibe.

Coming from having played Vox and Marshall, I needed a switch, something a bit in-between -- and I can say that this is it. It's got enough power and clean headroom for small gigs, and with an OD pedal, works perfectly as a low-volume apartment practice amp. This amp has made me a Fender fan. Having said that, I will be returning mine due to an unbearable rattling that occurs when I hit the low-E string on my SG (both bridge and neck). This doesn't happen with my Tele; but then again, the SG is a bit thicker sounding. I will most likely return it for a Deluxe Reissue. It's a bit bigger in every way, but I know it will handle the SG without a problem. If you do plan to get this amp, do some research on the rattling. I read that it doesn't affect all units, just a lot of them. Apparently, the cabinet can be moded to eliminate the rattle, but I just can't justify buying a new amp just to have to mod it.

Comments about Fender 65 Princeton Reverb 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

These days I'm playing out in mostly small bars/rooms. Previously, I've owned a 70s Pro Reverb and Vibrolux and more recently a 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. While I love the Deluxe Reverb (different midrange voicing and more lows than the 65 PRRI), it's almost 50 lbs. vs. the PRRI's 34 lbs. The smaller stage footprint is helpful and it's much easier to lug around. I was worried this wouldn't stay clean to slightly broken up when I played with the band. This has plenty of headroom/volume w/ no mods and easily kept up playing roots-rock/alt-country/Americana type stuff with a tele. The tone on the PRRI is just amazing, definitely sweeter than the Deluxe (which is pretty great!). Chime, sparkle, growl, warmth clarity, it's all there. I find with the PRRI I can easily dial in my slightly broken up tone without being too loud. The Deluxe was always a battle to get that. I don't use a dirt pedal, just a compressor and clean boost, so I rely a lot on the amp's natural speaker breakup. No rattle which I know was an issue w/ these early on. The only negative I can say is initially this amp was really bright. But between my guitar tone knob and the amp treble I got it under control. I also think the speaker has broken in a bit and tamed some of this. Better to have brightness to spare than not enough. I see this as my main amp from here on out.

Comments about Fender 65 Princeton Reverb 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The Princeton Reverb by Fender is a superb amp for a variety of applications, but is especially desirable for a really clean sound (e.g., classic surf music, country and jazz). The amp can also rock and produce amazing slightly overdriven sounds heard on many classic rock songs. I bought this amp mainly to use with a Gibson ES 175 for Jazz (light strumming, finger style and piano-style/plucking chord voicing). I was using a Polytone Minibrute that just wasn't clean enough. Most of the amps I played were simply not clean enough (i.e., able to preserve the clarity of subtle but important tones going from Dom9 to Dom7(-9) in lower positions at higher volumes). I've been playing for years and I had very high expectations for this amp...and I'm happy to say the Princeton meets all of them. I knew I wanted a smaller Fender 65 Reissue style tube amp. I needed it to sound clean, warm, punchy and be portable. I also wanted to use the amp for classic rock by turning the amp up loud to break-up (get a bit dirty)...however, I did not want my ears to bleed when I reached this volume. So I was torn b/w getting the Princeton vs. Deluxe model. The Princeton turned out to be perfect and I have no regrets! The amp sounds great in my home, its very clean (even at high volumes) and it is plenty loud enough for large rooms. The larger models (Twin or Deluxe) would be way too loud for me by the time the amp started to break. The Deluxe is just heavy enough to make me reluctant to take it anywhere or everywhere. The Princeton is very easy to move. I am 50 and have some hearing loss and a bad back, so getting just the right sound without losing any more hearing was very important. My ears and back got exactly what was needed without any loss of sound quality or other trade-offs! If you looking for warm clean punchy sound with chiming highs when you need it - this is THE amp. Fender Reverb and tremolo are too intense past 3 or 4, but sound great at < 3!

I was not 100% with my Blues Jr for jazz clean sound. After a lot of reading and youtubing I decided for the Princeton. The amp (Princeton) just fits exactly what I expected for. Really clean sound, perfect treble and less middle than the Blues J. A lot of headroom. Perfect with my ES-175 and my 80?s American Strat.

This may seem like a lot of money for an amp thats 15 watts through a 10 inch speaker but if you're looking for the ultimate in a really clean sound, this is the one. Great for jazz and fingerstyle. I have a Blues Driver pedal if I want to add a little dirt. You won't regret it if clean is what you seek.

Love my Princeton. Tone to die for. The perfect home studio amp. I use an Okko Diablo. What a combo: Princeton-Diablo. So clean and clear. It's like hearing the real characters of my guitars for the first tim. Play it low, play it loud - wow. Pricey? Sure, but it'll be the last amp you ever buy. I traded in a 40W Fender Custom Vibrolux. Great amp. Zero regrets. Thanks to GC for all the advice.

Look no further. This is the perfect home-studio amp. Plug it in and you won't look up for days. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for - and you get a lot in a small package. Classic Fender tone. Loves pedals. Mod it? Forget it. The Fender folks know what they're doing. Kudos to the great folks at GC for letting me trade my Custom Vibrolux toward the Princeton.
