Hot rod mods are by "Amp Doctor" Csar Diaz. The Fender '64 Vibroverb Custom Guitar Combo Amp is an all-tube, completely hand-wired combo with a solid finger-jointed pine cabinet and a 15" Eminence speaker for a unique, throaty sound. From the front it appears to be a faithful reissue, while back-panel Stock/Modified and Tube/Diode Rectifier switches kick it into overdrive for a cranked up "Texas blues" sound. 2-button reverb/vibrato footswitch and embroidered cover included.

I can't say enough about the impeccable tone this amp has. It's a very clean, warm, solid, & full but also tight sound with a huge bottom from the 15" special design Eminence speaker. Very nice mids & highs too. This amp sings! Don't think a 15" is just for bass guitar amps. This thing is unbeatable for guitar in a club/bar setting. 15's are so much fuller sounding than 10" or 12" speakers. The amp's size is ideal, as is it's weight (52lbs). I jammed in KC for a couple of yrs with a 56' Fender 45 watt (forgot model) with a 15" JBL, & this Vibroverb is twice that amp (& I thought that old Fender was killer). I will end up with two of these (set tonally opposite), & a 50 watt, 2x12 Marshall combo (for my idea of the ultimate set-up) when I can afford it some day...
The interesting thing about the electric guitar is that it is one of the few intruments that involves two compnants that are in tern driven by eachother. The Fender Vibroverb is one of the best amplifiers for this essential melding. The only thing involved with your tone when you are using this amplifier is electricity, glass, metal, and wood, the same as in a guitar; It is pure, and an intrument. This said, I have had the opportunity of using two of these being fed from an A/B box, one set for the lower, more growl- like frequencies, and the other set to fill in everything missing from the first, the hight, beautiful glass and grind. This is the best way to get the "full tone" that any self respecting musician deserves, If you buy one, buy two. This is the best that fender makes, and by far the best complement to your intrument that is available. Period.
Been searching for the "SRV" tone for years thru amps, pedals, pickups and playing style. With this one, just plug in a cord and turn to 4.5 and you will find it all right there with no pedals or anything. Pure Texas Tone. Would like to see vibro on hot channel tho.
If you're looking for heavy distortion or violin-like sustain, forget this amp. But if you play blues, country, rockabilly or pre-british invasion rock and roll, you won't do better than this little monster. Plenty of clean head room and just a hint of break-up when you pour the coals to it. Tone that'll make the hair on the back of you neck stand up -- just sensational. Beautiful to look at, too!
