Overview

In 2014, Fender celebrates the diamond jubilee of arguably the world's greatest electric guitar with the limited-edition 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster. This special guitar honors the Stratocaster's very first model year as an exciting new instrument with a tone as new and different as tomorrow, and is reverently crafted with a rich selection of features, appointments and accessories.

Three modern 1954 single-coil Stratocaster pickups deliver a singing original-era voice, with five-way switching complemented by an included optional three-way switch for original wiring. The guitar also features a single-ply white pickguard and white polystyrene control knobs, bone nut and round string tree, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge with six special saddles, vintage tuners and nickel-chrome hardware.

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have owned a lot of Stratocasters, and this one may be the best ever. The fat neck is really nice, and the tone is great. Exciting guitar to play and hear.

      Back to the Future

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I'm just old enough to remember seeing this model hit the stores in 1954. I was only eight at the time, but all those curves and that incredible wood made a lasting impression. Now I get to relive that experience whenever I open the case. This is not your typical re-issue, modified with updated pickups and a comfy neck. The original specs have been kept in tack and the result is something that I will treasure forever. The guitar has a personality all of it's own, some will get along with it, some won't. The neck is a handful and the pickups are the brightest I have encountered on a Strat. But both of those traits are beginning to prove addictive. So much so that I think this review is\has gone on long enough and it's time to play.

      60th Anniversay 1954 Strat

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is an overall nice guitar. The one thing this guitar has above most other reissues is the big neck (which plays extremely well). I can play chords up & down the neck without alot of finger pressure (compare to my cheap Mexican Strat). Other comparable strats do not play as smoothly. The pickups are what you would expect from an original '54, not hot but a good (cleaner) vintage strat sound. Some of the first original '54 strats used Anli 3 magnets to give them a brighter (but weaker) sound. I use Texas Specials in my 2004 Daphne Blue Mexi strat and it was louder, and slightly warmer than the 60th anniversary strat. The sunburst finish is nice and the body routes are correct (especially the deep back cut). The only change to this guitar I would consider are the pickups (to whatever sound you like). I never got a chance to glance under the pickguard. Does anyone know if they are using all clothe wiring? This would be a must to keep this guitar in line with the original spec's.

      Beauty and a beast

      By Gary

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've been playing mostly Clapton & Beck strats since they came out in '91. I have Les Pauls too. This has a feel on the neck right between the older bigger Beck and current Clapton neck. The body finish & wood are beautiful. It has great balance. Abigail PU's are good, maybe a little too tame for my style and use. Sort of fell in love with the Beck Hot Noiseless stacks though & I may change them or put in the Clapton electronics, just to see. But if somebody said this is the only guitar you can have for the rest of your life, I'd be ok with that. Mostly I'm running it thru Vox & Marshall amps. Sounds Great cranked (A+)and the clean tone I'd rate as a (B). Thru Fender amps the opposite. Clean (A+), OD (B). It comes with 3 of the springs connected. I don't use vibrato much because I've been playing Clapton strat w/ blocked trem. Case is great by the way. Nice center pocket and the paper work is fun. Lots of info & promo stuff. Fender hit this one out of the park! Frankly, the guitar is too good for most of the dives & joints I play. I still work it hard though. It takes it.

      Best Vintage Strat Ever!

      By Andre Baptista

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I had four Fender Stratocasters and this 1954 now become the fifth. Among the others, including Custom Shop Models, I was very impressed how this guitar is very well made. This 54 is truly one of her kind with beautiful wood in her body and neck and old style knobs and pickup covers. The chunky neck in one piece of wood is really good to play with easy bends and beautiful vibratos. Besides to be a collectors piece, there's only 1954 world wide, I bought mine to use. The sound of this vintage pickups are impressive with all beauty of clean and dirty tube amps. That is it! Is what it is! Fender exceeded my expectations this time! It's better than my other Custom Shops with a lower price.
