I was in the market for a low price practice amp. If you've run a search on that you'll notice a lot of choices. and do you really have time to check all of them out? they're so cheap you almost just wanna grab any which one. So after calling my neighborhood GC and asking for advice i went with this one. In my case, i wanted something with a good clean channel. the horse power I already have in a big line six spider amp. and like everyone else, i have enough junk that i dont' really care if the built-in sounds are good. just need a nice clean sound. I was told my best options where this frontman model and it's Marshall counterpart. best gain sound is on the Marshall; and best clean tone on the Frontman. Normally I'd take the time to compare the two, but no time to spare so i decided to just grab this one. I was glad I did. The clean sound was so pretty and nice that I suddenly realized my line 6 is junk. this thing sounds amazing. I suddenty like my guitar a lot more. Haven't had a chance to hook up pedals, but did try the gain on it. Surprisingly, it's not bad. the built in Reverb sounds decent too. definitely good enough for goofin' around while working on ideas before moving on to serious gear. So in conclusion, if you need a good clean tone, this is a very good alternative. Not having tried the Marshall, I'll avoid speaking bad about it. I'm sure it's probably very good. but I really like this thing. it doesn't sound thin, which was a complaint I had with a small line 6 practice amp I sold. it's got nice bass, mid, and high, making your guitar sound awesome and giving your pickups a chance to show their stuff. And it's got plenty of juice if you wanna' get loud. but chances are that's not really why you need it. Now i gotta start saving so I can buy something to replace my line 6 with.

Good amp and nice clean and dirty sound and good reverb , too. The problem I have is the BASS tone control does not really work that well for me. You can not turn the bass off and it is TOO bassy now matter what guitar I use. I have a Strat and a Tele and the bass is too boomy and can't be turn down/off. I read another reviewer who had the same problem. So I will return it due to the BOOMY BASS.

good amp

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I needed an amp for a small gig as my blues deville was too big and so was my twin reverb. I checked out this amp at guitar center near me and found that it would do the job. I have since purchased another one and have used these amps on stage at various gigs with such groups as Eddid and the Edsels, Bernie and the Lads. All I have to say about the amps is that they are great little amps and have the power to do the job. Well Done Fender

Fender Frontman 25R: Great Value

By Paul

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp to practice with, and it was a suprise. I was shocked by the sounds that came out of this little amp, and all for $99 bucks. I have even played my Les Paul on this amp and it sounded better than you might expect. This amp gives a lot of bang for the buck.

Awesome for the size and price!

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought a Line 6 Spider III 15 watter about 9 months ago. A friend just got back into playing guitar, and bought a new butterscotch blonde tele, and was looking for a "practice" amp, so I sold him my Spider. I searched on-line extensively, and came to my conclusion. Went to GC, and plugged an axe into this Fender 25R, (and some others) and...was sold! Best amp in this "class" for the buck! Makes my LP sound like it should. Many of those other amps in this class and price range have more bells and whistles, but this amp does what it was designed to do, and does it extremely well! Thank you Fender. This is a top 10 billboard hit, in my humble opinion. Let's rock!!

Good n Plenty

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp on the spur of the moment before going out of town almost a year ago. I wanted to bring my guitar but didn't want to haul a larger amp around. Boy was I surprised when I got unpacked and hooked it up. This is a good amp with plenty of power for such a small package. I don't think I've ever had the volume up over 3 or 4 and even then I can be heard clearly. It is a solid, quality amp at a price that can't be beat. I'm thinking of picking up one or two more just to have around as spares.

Rocks the House, and Small Gigs with this lil Red Monster.

By S. Lee-David

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Wow, this is a good solid state. I use Pod GX through my Laptop for effects, and my buddy that has a 4x12 Marshall Stack all tube super loud system was amazed at the sounds I was getting. that made his setup sound very limited. Future Guitar Legends I truly believe Solid State will someday replace tube technology, even my Tube Purist lead guitarist now agrees after hearing my setup. That an Guitar setup is truly about range, personality, dynamic and access to a large variety of sounds. He played through my setup, and got the same nuances of harmonic resonance, dynamic and responsive equivalent to his all Tube and pedal effect setup. The only problem is switching from one effect to another with the POD farm software isn't quite ready for Live. And, the Fender speaker couldn't handle the very low notes. It sounds good on clean but don't bother with the Gain, it's okay, but with a PodX and infinite sound tweaking, and sound models from wide variety of accomplished guitarists, you have only your imagination to hold you back from creating something truly unique. I will, like the other reviewer here, change the speaker to a Cajun Rajun to handle the lower notes. A mere 65 dollar investment for killer sound. Yes, killer sound. technologies come a long ways, and these solid states are not something to pass up. You can get a 5 watt tube amp for a bit more, but it wouldn't be as loud than this fenderfrontman with 25 watts of solid state power. This is a great deal, try it out, you have a 30 day money back guarantee. Get the Pod farm, or the customizable Line 6, hook that up with this amp and the replacement speaker and you got a killer setup that can hang with a 4x12 marshall all tube setup. Okay, maybe the Marshall is a bit louder with a bit more chunkiness and tone, but the price difference makes this item indispensable. Several of my friends, after hearing my setup, got the exact same thing, I kind of hated that cause I wanted to be a bit unique, but what the heck. it's not the equipment it's what you do with it, right ? The best practice setup I've owned yet.

Almost Perfect Small Amp!

By CD

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp for practice amp to reduce power consumption due to 10 hours a day or more of use. For more than 20 years I have owned Fender Super Reverb, Fender Concert Amps, and Dual Showman; the tone response on this amp at all levels of amplitude and frequencies is classic Fender with low noise filterۡ_kudosۡ to Fender amp design in that category. Also, I love the use of Classic Fender early 60ۡs Styling on the Black version of the 25R! (It makes me all Misty! LOL) The speaker in this amp is OK but weak and does not do this amp justice; I recommend speaker upgrade to maximize full potential of this amp. The only really Critical issue for me on this amp is the lack of a separate line out with variable potential control. The manual says that the earphones jack can be used as line out but that it turns off the speaker on the amp when in use. What is Fender thinking? This amp would be almost perfect as a studio source monitor amp or on stage monitor to P.A if it had a separate line out! Almost all of Fenderۡs competitors in this size amp provide a separate line out and it probably would only cost Fender Manufacturing less than $1.50 worth of material per unit to add a separate variable line out. 5 Stars with changes!
