I was in the market for a low price practice amp. If you've run a search on that you'll notice a lot of choices. and do you really have time to check all of them out? they're so cheap you almost just wanna grab any which one. So after calling my neighborhood GC and asking for advice i went with this one. In my case, i wanted something with a good clean channel. the horse power I already have in a big line six spider amp. and like everyone else, i have enough junk that i dont' really care if the built-in sounds are good. just need a nice clean sound. I was told my best options where this frontman model and it's Marshall counterpart. best gain sound is on the Marshall; and best clean tone on the Frontman. Normally I'd take the time to compare the two, but no time to spare so i decided to just grab this one. I was glad I did. The clean sound was so pretty and nice that I suddenly realized my line 6 is junk. this thing sounds amazing. I suddenty like my guitar a lot more. Haven't had a chance to hook up pedals, but did try the gain on it. Surprisingly, it's not bad. the built in Reverb sounds decent too. definitely good enough for goofin' around while working on ideas before moving on to serious gear. So in conclusion, if you need a good clean tone, this is a very good alternative. Not having tried the Marshall, I'll avoid speaking bad about it. I'm sure it's probably very good. but I really like this thing. it doesn't sound thin, which was a complaint I had with a small line 6 practice amp I sold. it's got nice bass, mid, and high, making your guitar sound awesome and giving your pickups a chance to show their stuff. And it's got plenty of juice if you wanna' get loud. but chances are that's not really why you need it. Now i gotta start saving so I can buy something to replace my line 6 with.

Good amp and nice clean and dirty sound and good reverb , too. The problem I have is the BASS tone control does not really work that well for me. You can not turn the bass off and it is TOO bassy now matter what guitar I use. I have a Strat and a Tele and the bass is too boomy and can't be turn down/off. I read another reviewer who had the same problem. So I will return it due to the BOOMY BASS.

From a hidden jewel to a little beast........

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

From a hidden jewel to a little beast just begging to be set free. I picked this amp up a couple of years ago when it was on sale at GC. Stock, out of the box it sounded pretty good. To be honest, I had no complaints. After reading the reviews, it seemed replacing the stock speaker with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun' was the most recommended upgrade for this unassuming, mild mannered, little practice amp. Now I see why. What a little beast! Easily capable of handling small to mid size rooms. A great little practice amp made even better. It should be stock equipment. Get the amp, get the speaker and be done with it.

I like it!

By Charles

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I wanted a decent practice amp so I picked this one up. Reviews were pretty good and overall, accurate. I wanted some decent reverb and the spring definitely got my attention. The amp sounded good right out of the box. A little muddy at high volumes but that was expected. I changed out the speaker with a 60 watt G10 Vintage Celestion which cleaned it up a bit. I also picked up a pedal for channel select. Cleans are great for Blues and Country, Gain kicks for the Hard Rock stuff and the reverb sounds great in moderation. Classic Fender tones are there for sure. A great practice amp is exactly what it is! If that's what you're looking for, I'd recommend it all day long! Delivery from Guitar Center was super fast. Nice job G.C.

Fender Greatness

By Bobby

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Sold my 1970s Super Reverb awhile back. Was just looking for a practice amp. Got an amp by another name. Just wasnt satisfied. Didnt have that Fender warmth and reverb sweetness. Watched the youtube vids and read all the reviews on this Frontman, Went to GC today and bought it. Everything I hoped it would be. Has that warm Fender tone, bright highs and punching bass tones. True spring reverb and enough power to play a small banquet room or backyard party. Best 100 bucks I ever spent.

Yes I take this amp on the road.

By Raymond L

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

When you need a small amp and don't know what to do, go FENDER. I like this little Frontman 25R. I use this as one of my main amps. I take it on the road. I even played my Martin D-Custom with a Dean Markley woody pickup through this amp on a tour and it sounded great. You can always mic a small amp and do a big stage too. This is light weight and compact so hauling it in a small car on tour will leave you room for other stuff in the trunk.Fender did a great job on this amp and when you NEED an amp that is affordable and NEED it NOW, go FENDER. Guitar Center knows FENDER too and that is a good thing for you. You can get a killer warranty and when your music is your bread and butter you want that added insurance. This amp has a great tone and built in reverb and overdrive. I have played through a lot of Fender solid state amps and through a lot of Fender tube amps. If you play small venues and house parties this is a great amp for that. It has a place to plug a CD paler with two RCA connections for the Aux. input. That way you can crank up your favorite CD and play along with it. Want to go from clean to overdrive? This has a foot switch with it. Fender thinks of everything. There is even a velcro power cord holder built in the back. Head phone jack (1/4 inch) is on the front so you can play at night with head phones and not make the neighbors mad. I have owned, still own and played many many Fender products and many of those were purchased through Guitar Center. there is a reason for this. When it works you don't mess with a good thing. I always have good luck with Fender and I always have good luck with Guitar Center and both are all over the country and when you play music as your job, you need to have the right stuff. I had this amp a few months and I love it. I like the red color too. This is only a 25 watt amp but it can hang in there on a lot of shows as long as you are not playing metal with those guys that have all those stacks. For most other gigs it is a great little amp. Perfect amp for the home and makes a great shop amp for those who need an amp for that. Get one today. I like it because it is one cool little amp and it works.

Mighty Mouse of an amp!!

By Dave

from Lake Havasu City Arizona

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I received my Fender Frontman 25R today, unpacked it,, plugged everything in and BUZZZZZZZ. Tried all the settings on the amp and on my Les Paul, nothing. Man, how disappointed... then I tried a new cable from the guitar to the amp. Crystal clear and smooth, that 1 year old $40.00 cable was shot. The drive has a good hard sound that you will like if you play in the drive mode. The controls are easy to use and the treble, middle and base controls make a big difference. The reverb has a good added sound also. The headphone jack can also be used as an unbalanced line by using a 1/4" stereo or mono plug. You will need to buy a footswitch as it is not included. The amp is small in size but big in sound. I have the volume set at 2.5 anything higher would get my neighbors knocking on the door. Buy a new cable if you order a new amp or guitar. Over all, I would rate this little mighty mouse of an amp a 10. Perfect for home practice or small gigs. I ordered the amp on Monday from Guitar Center in Vegas and received it on Wednesday in Arizona. Guitar Center in Vegas is on the ball !! Good friendly service.

Made a modification to the FM 25R

By Karen

from Richmond, Tx

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I tried to use my 25r with my pedal steel guitar and the 10" speaker just didn't cut it. A 12" speaker would not fit in the stock cabinet. So I used Birch plywood to build a cabinet 2" taller than the original. I purchased an Eminence 12" Cannabis Rex speaker and installed it in this newly made cabinet. (the cabinet is covered in the red Tolex like the original and the speaker grill is wheat colored. This amp came alive and works well with my Tele and my Sho Bud. I connect both to an A/B switch and change back and forth from lead to steel with no loss in tone! I have another with a 10" Eminence Ragin Cajun speaker and I use it for acoustic/electric gigs. I had a 65r before this one and it never gave me the satisfaction that the 25r has. I gig with these amps all the time and they are loud enough on their own but I do mic with the band for better stage sound balance.

Solid Practice Amp

By Joel

from Fresno, CA

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a solid and affordable practice amp and the Fender Frontman 25-R is exactly that. It has a great clean tone and the spring reverb really helps when I'm playing more textural stuff. I would suggest changing out the speaker if your looking for a little more punch.

Great Amp.

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Nice amp! And such a good price I bought two of them (storing one away for a rainy day). No annoying "pop" when you turn it on or off like some amps.

Fender Stuck

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been playing guitar for 32 years now and it has always been Fender, I have had Peavy, Raven and a few Pawn Shop specials over the years but I always go back to my Fender, The Front Man 25 gives plenty of punch and recording with it is easy, I know run my Front Man 25 through a Harbinger 60 PA and it is awesome, I notice a few people say they use it as a practice amp but it is awesome in the recording studio and small live venue.
