i have been looking at these only to replace the original "gold plated" hardware on a rare custom MIJ 90's tele that have the typical oxidation. going to chrome just for the look to match the white and pearl inlay on the guitar.( will keep and save the gold for collecter value)i would like to make a comment to a previous review however. all tele's that i know of at least before the 1970's all were top loaded "definatly vintage stuff" which i actually prefer to the current style i have on my american standards. very nice piece this is.
i bought my new 52' tele not 2 weeks ago, and yesterday i decided to change the strings. these tuners are alot different than the ones any strat or any non-vintage fender instrument. it involves sticking the string in the top of the tuner, and then winding it around acouple times. this is much more difficult than the standard, stock fender tuners. beside that, my tele stayed in tune great, i only tuned it twice during the two weeks. just consider that these tuners have some getting use to.
When buying products you look for style and quality. These machine heads have both. Nice turning radius and the look to keep your Strat or Tele looking vintage and authentic. The specs on these machine heads will keep even the most discrimatory player or collector.
