Purchased this guitar 03/26/14. I was looking for a guitar that played and sounded like a 2000.00, but was not afraid to take and play out with. This is my 3rd Telecaster. I played 20 or so Telecasters of all kinds before purchasing, Standard, Deluxe, Custom Shop. I kept coming back to this one. I am very happy that I did. The set up was perfect out of the box. The Humbucker in the bridge position is a"monster"! I also play a Les Paul Traditional, and I can get those FAT Gibson tones out this guitar or those Great Tele tones. If your looking for a Guitar with great looks that you can pound nails with, and plays like a dream ... this one does it all.

  • A big surprise in many ways.

As reviewed by Eric Kent on 12/27/2013

This guitar would be an upgrade for me as well as an interesting change of pace. I have played an Epiphone G-400 for a couple of years with an upgraded Seymour Duncan SH 4 and SH2 set. It has been a reliable and solid guitar to learn on. I bought a telecaster after feeling like I needed something different. I started reading some Telecaster forums and they sparked my curiosity. I like blues, jazz, rock, and hard rock and wanted to get something a bit "warmer" sounding. I play through a nice Peavey Classic 50 212. This Telecaster blew me away. The dark, rich, earthy tones were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting some pretty big twang, which you can certainly dial in, but I was NOT expecting such a massive CRUNCH when using both the bridge and bridge/humbucker combo. The humbucker on this Telecaster sounds great in my opinion. You can hear the bridge pickup clearly through the humbucker (if I am explaining that right). It adds a warmth to the tone and gets rid of the hum which I appreciate when wanting to do a little light fingerpicking or wanting to play quietly. I think the beautiful single coil tone still shines through. I am also pleasantly surprised by the neck pickup. The finish is beautiful. A nice dark brown tobacco burst. The wide (and relatively tall) frets give you room for tons of nuance in your playing. It also makes me have to listen a little harder and more carefully to my playing as there is a little more room to push the strings a bit out of tune due to the deep frets. Personally I love it. There is a lot of character to this guitar and I feel that it is a guitar that will be a pleasure to grow into. There are obviously "better" Telecasters out there with more bells and whistles and higher grade material, but for this new Telecaster player I am more than happy and would highly recommend this guitar. The warm tones, huge Rock crunch, lovely breakup in clean mode will hopefully please you as much as it did me.

  • Great tone !

As reviewed by Neil Purdy on 3/11/2014

Bought this as an back up to my 96' LP Classic and I'll have to say I'm glad I did. The factory set-up was horrid. After a set-up job and some new Super Slinky's it play's great. The fit and finish from fender is nice. Coil-split bucker is nice. I can get any tone I want from tele twang to butane strat to fat LP tones. Very versatile guitar. I play in and band that play's everything from Merle, Hank and Dwight to Skynyrd and Aerosmith. This guitar covers is all. I play it thought a Egnater Tweaker 88 head and 2x12 cab. Sounds Awesome !
