All-mahogany body with soundboard bracing for bright tone.

Fender's soprano-style Ukulele U'Uku takes its name from the Hawaiian word for "tiny" (soprano ukes are the smallest members of the ukulele family), but the happiness it creates with its great sound and elegant design is "big".

  • Nice instrument

As reviewed by Jennifer Peters on 8/27/2012

I am really enjoying my little soprano ukulele. For the price, the sound is beautiful, much better than the Hilo uke I originally had. It takes a while for the strings to stretch enough so that it stays in tune, but all in all, it is a beautiful little instrument that is fun to play.

  • An Okay U'uku

As reviewed by Sandra Padilla on 6/15/2012

I actually got this ukulele at a local store and ended up returning it but obviously voicing my experience is going to help my guitar center community. The reason I was not satisfied with the "u'uku" was because first of all, the tuning would not hold at all. Every time you will want to play this instrument you will need to have your tuner nearby especially if you keep it in a gig bag. Secondly, the sound was too bright for my taste and I understand this is a word that should not be a negative for a ukulele but it was not working for me, of course, we all have different ears. Though I do like the fact that it can really fill up a room with sound. The ukulele is very nicely made. The wood is textured and the designs behind the tuning devices are a plus. Also it already comes with Aquila strings which is another added bonus rather than the commercial black strings. But it doesn't come with a bag. The ukulele did have a bit of a fret buzz but that is repairable if I had decided to stick with it. It really is "u'uku" or "tiny" as the description says, I am someone with sort of long thin fingers and it was a bit awkward playing it. It would be a good idea to research the brand of the instrument you are looking into online to see how many years they have been producing that instrument. For instance, Fender in this case has been manufacturing ukuleles since 2009 which was not that long ago. All in all this is an okay ukulele for a beginner. I have not played or owned a ukulele before but since I play the guitar already and had experiences with other instruments, I have developed certain tastes, etc. Try it out, it may be for your sound wise but remember you will have to tune constantly.
