Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar (580406)
Availability:

An acoustic-electric with attitude.

Based on Tim Armstrong's beat-up old Sixties acoustic, on which he writes all the songs for the legendary punk band Rancid, the Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat acoustic-electric guitar is ready to slam its way into the mosh pit. Tim has given his acoustic some modern flair and style with pearl acrylic "Hellcat" logos on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th frets while a couple of skulls adorn the 12th fret. Other features include a Fishman® Isys III preamp with built -In tuner, strap button, scalloped bracing, solid mahogany top and a look that will have you singing "Roots Radicals" till your Mohawk is ready for its next trim. Fender includes Tim's custom "Let's Go" guitar strap that perfectly complements this acoustic's edgy visuals.

Case sold separately.

  • Pleasantly surprised

As reviewed by Michael King on 5/16/2011

I bought this guitar for my daughter, but can't put it down myself. I have no idea who Tim Armstrong is and can't say I've ever heard Rancid, but he did an ecellent job on this. I've got a couple of Silvertone and Harmony acoustics, so I was drawn by the 'look' and pleasantly surprised by its playablity and sound. Initially the action was a little high, but one of the very helpful young chaps at GC San Fran tweaked the truss rod for me and it now plays like a treat. I played it at a gig last weekend and it drew plenty of comment and I had to drag it away from the other players in the band. A nice full sound, excellent pickups and very good value.

  • excellent axe!

As reviewed by Doug Dole on 9/28/2010

For an cheap acoustic electric this one is great! I've been looking for a non-cutaway acoustic electric for some time and they are hard to find especially in this price range! The pickup is good and the tuner is nice to have on board! I had to file down the nut and bridge a bit to get the action I wanted but I'm still very happy with it. The hellcats are cool if you're into that but they are a nice addition and a conversation starter if anything. It's better than just having plain ole' dot inlays I suppose. The wood on the entire guitar is beautiful and it's a pleasure to play all the time. I have zero complaints and nothing but praise for this axe! Great job Fender! DD
