A bass made to Police specifications.

The Fender Sting Signature Precision Bass is a faithful reproduction of Sting's trusty 1953 Precision Bass with his signature in a block inlay at the 12th fret. Contoured lightweight ash body with single-ply pickguard. Maple neck and fretboard with a 7.25" radius, vintage 2-saddle bridge, and vintage single-coil pickup. Enjoy this re-creation of the P Bass from the early days and pay homage to a great player at the same time.

looks nice, but not much of a player

I am a p-bass lover. I have owned many, many precisions in my time. From the cheapest to the most expensive. I just love them. This is the reason I picked up a sting precision. The bass feels solid. It looks great. The tone was very mediocre. It just didn't have any of the typical pbass thump. I changed the strings to my favorite set of flat wounds, and still it didn't do it for me. There is just something missing. Coupled with the fact that the singlecoil pickup is not very thumb-rest friendly. The way that it is contoured just killed my thumb after a while. I play with my thumb on the pickup, so this was a major issue for me. The neck was also really thick. Like baseball bat thick. These are common complaints that I have read about this model, but I just had to see it before I actually believed it. Well its true. If you have big hands or you like big necks, and play with a pick or thumb as many players did back then, im sure you would probably like this bass. For me it just didn't do anything for me. Plus I think the twelth fret marker with his signature is a little gaudy for an instrument styled like this.

This Bass Is Great For Any Progressing Musician

I have been playing guitar, drums, bass, and piano for the past six years, but can say this bass guitar is my favorite instrument that I own. Despite the single tone value through one pickup, this guitar sings like Sting made it to sing. Overall, I love it, and enjoy it's smooth fretboard and action. Definitely a Great Choice!
