this thing is fantastic. don't worry about getting the american if you can't, this one is a perfect substitute, especially for leftys. dead simple in its options, sounds amazing for any style of music, and played through a box ac15, it's perfect. it came set up great right out of the box, stays in tune great, gets that nice trebly twang, the balanced middle position, and then the warm and smooth rhythm pickup sound. It's incredibly versatile, and can take a beating like no other. I've had it for 3 years and it still looks great after lots of use (mine was the burst finish). It doesnt feel too heavy, but still feel very solid so i'm not afraid ot really go at it with this. I expected it to be great and it met the expectations for sure. lastly, the neck, which was fatter than the old les paul 100 that i've had for 5 years now, feels amazing. Didnt think i'd like the bigger neck but its great. the finish on it isnt heavy so sweat doesnt cause problems, and i sometimes have to remind myself that it acutally has a finish because it feels so smooth and plain, unlike the heavily coated neck of my les paul. it's unbelievably comfortable. for lefties, this is a perfect choice. You'll be happy, trust me.
This guitar is fantastic. I've had mine a few years now and you can't beat it. I've played the made in america models and let me tell you, this guitar can give the made in america a run for its money. The smooth neck is easy to bend on and the pickups are amazing. This the only guitar that I think sounds good in the middle position. The finish on it is great, but look at it in the store first because I have seen some sunburst that aren't that great. But over all, no complaints.
