NEW REVIEW - AWESOME GUITAR WITH GREAT TONE!
This is a great guitar for people who enjoy sound rather than covering it up with distortion.If you play metal you should test it before you buy it because it gets a screeching sound when you put a high distortion rate on it with the tone knob turn all the way up.Also iv'e found a really distinctive sound when you turn the tone knob all the way down and add distortion it sounds great! (no screeching sounds)But my favorite part of this Tele is the slick look.I think its the best guitar you could get for this price range!

AMAZING
Get this guitar, i am a HUGE fan of fender, especially their telecaster, with its maple neck and the body being alder, it makes a decently light guitar, with a very very fast neck. the pickups a standard comes with are very hot so if you have a budget dont worry about upgrading pickups. These guitars stay in tune very well and can be used for most any type of music

Buy the one that you test drive!
Don't let the 4 stars fool you - I absolutely LOVE this guitar. The rating is because of the big problem I've noticed with the Fender MIMs... QUALITY CONTROL. You definitely want buy this thing off a guitar shop's wall rather than blind mail order!
With that out of the way, I LOVE the sound of this guitar... it makes me want to play bluesy licks, which is atypical for me, so this is a wonderful and welcome addition to my arsenal. A word of caution - the standard pups WILL hum; if this is going to be your main axe, you might want to replace them... but this is an auxilliary instrument for me, and I LOVE how the pups sound, so I can live with the hum.
Add a little tube screamer with your treble & bass at 12 o'clock and your mids at about 2 o'clock, and I guarantee you'll never put this guitar back in its case.

Not good for metal?
i have been wanting a Tele for a while but really didnt know much about them. I wanted one so that i could get more of a bluesy twang, being that all my other guitars are gibsons with humbuckers. My fear was that the single coils wouldnt chunk with high gain (as mentioned in other reviews). Well this one is perfect, i defenitely got the twang i wanted, but found that this thing is a beast on high gain. I play through a Line 6 Spider valve stack, and this thing chunks and squeals just fine. Its def different from the sound of a humbucker, but its a nice change. The other great thing about this guitar is the neck, def different from the 08's, much more comfortable, really fast. Def give this guitar a try.

beastly guitar
got this guitar for christmas '08 and it looks and sounds great! It has an amazing clean tone for ska upsrokes set in the middle position plus a great classic, high treble telecaster sound with just the bridge pickup, distortion is pretty good, high gain doesn't really work out with this guitar though, its not really built for metal. i feel a little bit out of place with all the blues and classic rock players that typically buy these guitars, considering i'm more of a pop punk, ska punk player, but trust me it works well in both areas plus its nice to be a bit different, i mean i already have a strat and everyone has a les paul so i wasn't after one. the finish looks great but i manged to chip it in 2 places already, which isn't a huge surprise considering i jump around a lot while playing and usually hit stuff. another great thing about this guitar is the controls, very simple, one tone (which i don't even use) one volume and three pickup positions, plus the controls are well out of the way unlike on my strat where i'm always hiting the pickup selector. overall a great guitar at a great price for any style other than metal.
