  • Pickguard Mistake

As reviewed by John Hoilday on 12/16/2010

I wanted my standard Mexican jazz bass to look more fancy. I place some copper tape under and around the pickup hole, to reduce the typical hum jazz basses are known for. My first replacement pickguard was not an offical fender part, but was an off brand name and would not line up with the holes. I discard it and I then bought a Fender brand for afew dollars more and it fit just great. without any modifcations. If I would have pick the right one the first time, I could have saved some money. so, save your money , I lost mine and learn from my mistake.

  • Does not fit on all standard Jazz Basses

As reviewed by Jameson Tade on 11/6/2011

I bought this for a MIM fretless Jazz I bought back in '05. I tried to put it on but I couldn't get it all the way on because it overlapped where the volume/tone selectors are. I ended up cutting/filing it down so it could fit. It was hard to file it down to just the right length so up close you can see where I botched it a little bit. It still looks good from a distance but I'm still a little disappointed because I didn't think it would be necessary to do any "after-market" work on it even though it says it fits all standard Jazz basses.
