Excellent bass and not just for jazz!
I bought this bass a few years back and it has been great! Not only does this bass have the signature Jaco Pastorius sound, it also holds multiple other sounds just by twisting a few knobs! Not only is this bass very versitile, but fender got everything else right on this bass to. It stays in tune, it has ajustable action, it has a very fast neck, and this bass is affordable (which is always a plus)! So if you are looking for a bass that is right up there at the pro level, extremely versitile, great quality, and affordable, then buy the fender jazz bass.

I own it
this bass is great for people who don't have a lot of money to throw around and need a great bass for the price, i love the way it sounds for slapping-its fun to play, great for rock and alternative, its versatile, and it looks good too
completely worth the money, sounds a ton better than anything for that price

Very good bass.
I bought my Fender Jazz two years ago and it still sounds great. The pickups hum a little bit, but that's the only problem I have with it. It has a very slim and quick neck and the tone controls are superb. The bass stays in tune very well through gigging and practice. Sounds great with slap and pop as well.

great bass, may need to be set up a bit
If there is anything i can say about this bass is that is has wonderful sound. the pickups are great, and the neck is even better. this bass may need to be set up a little before you use it though (tightening of screws, changing strings, etc.)but other than that the bass itself is great. a little pricy, but a good bass

The best I own!
I just bought the Fender Standard jazz bass. I wanted one cause I've heard great things about the Fender name, and so far I had owned a Warwick Corvette, a Traben torrent (discontinued), a Cort Curbow, a Peavey Grind, a Squier P-bass, and a Epiphone Thunderbird. This bass blew them all away! The sound is almost perfect for my slapping, but hey, I can't complain. It's a beast on tapping and finger pluck styles, but slapping is by far the best sound I've been able to create with my equipment. There's only two problems with it. For one thing, 20 frets is a bother. I normally have 24+ and now that I don't have those frets, I realize how much I needed them. Secondly, the neck needs adjusting, but that's my own fault for not checking all the frets. All in all, solid bass! I'll always keep Fender in mind!
