  • Awesome bass for an awesome price!

As reviewed by Chris on 3/28/2011

The price on this bass is outstanding for a bass of this quality. I have played bass for a few years, and I've bought and played many other basses of different prices and brands. This bass always wins. I've owned this bass for two years and it still plays as well today as it did the day I bought it. It still looks new too. This bass has been dropped and knocked over a few times (in its case) and looks and sounds fine. The weight is balanced well and takes no effort to support it while standing. The finish has held up well too. This is a good bass for beginners, regular players, and even professional musicians.

  • Tremendous value, great addition.

As reviewed by oxfan on 3/17/2011

Just picked it up my sunburst Jazz today. I played it at the store but didn't appreciate how good the neck was. It is a true Jazz bass neck, slim, easy to hold and fast. The pickups are powerful. Had to turn down all the volume settings from when I played my Precision through it. Finish is great and workmanship is very good. I'm happy with it.

  • Tried Many, Found One

As reviewed by Jim Hamilton on 6/10/2011

For two months I stopped by Guitar Cented a few times a week to play around with the various bass guitars. I tried different insturments with different amps, often choosing to use the less expensive, lower watt amps. I discovered, to no surprise, that some instruments sounded better with different amps. I was looking for something that would sound good with the lower cost amps and, of course, better with more powerful ones. I will be ever greatful that Guitar Center allows customers to play around with the instruments without a salesman standing over you, they made it much easier to come to a decision that I was completely comfortable with. This is my second bass, my first one nor being a Fender, a mistake on my part. When I settled on a Jazz bass my next decision was which one and settling on the Standard was pretty easy for me. Next was how much I wanted to spend. I played the American Standard and loved it but my budget was a little thin so I decided to order this one with the maple fretboard. Not having played this particular version of the Standard Jazz Bass I was a little concerned but when it arrived my concerns went out the window. Whether playing it through my Accoustic 20 watt or Fender Rumble 150 it provides just the sound and clarity I wanted. The narrow neck makes it a fast play and an easier reach for my short fingers. I am certain there are better bass' out there but I am completely satisfied with this Mexican made Standard Jazz Bass. If my pockets were deeper I might have gone to the Highway One or the American but I am pleased with what I have.
