Careful how you sit......

Ordered this stool a few weeks back and was very happy with the looks. However, the very first time I sat on it I heard a crack....then another....had to stand up quickly as the entire top began to collapse out from under me. I weigh 188 lbs., which you would think it should easily support. I really liked the stool, so I decided to remove the vinyl cover and see if I could fix it. I immediately saw why it collapsed - the actual seat support consists of a roughly 1/8" thick piece of plywood supported by two particle board strips and tiny pieces of the same plywood around the edges. Looked as if it had been put together with a stapler and gluestick. I could literally poke my finger through the plywood. Fortunately I was able to replace it with 3/4" plywood and better support. After putting the cover back on it looks good as new and is now very sturdy. So, unless you're much lighter than me, be prepared to spend a few hours upgrading the seat or you may be "let down" by the quality of construction.
