Fender Ron Emory Loyalty Slope Shoulder Acoustic-Electric Guitar (H90499)
Availability:

A unique combination of classic Fender style and features with Fishman electronics.

Longtime T.S.O.L. guitarist Ron Emory has infused some truly distinctive Fender acoustic guitars with his years of SoCal-punk cred and expertise. Among the latest and greatest is the new Ron Emory “Loyalty” Slope-Shoulder Dreadnought, in which he has combined his favorite features from several guitars in his large collection to create a stylish and eminently affordable model.

The Ron Emory “Loyalty” Slope-Shoulder Dreadnought is available in two versions—one with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck and a vintage-style sunburst finish reminiscent of the 1930s; the other with an all-ash body, maple neck and butterscotch-stain finish resembling his ’52 Telecaster. Both versions feature quartersawn scalloped “X” bracing, elegant herringbone body binding and rosette, soft “V” neck profile and aged neck binding, rosewood fingerboard with diamond inlays and 12th-fret “Loyalty” logo, 20 large vintage-style frets, 1970s-style Fender headstock, three-ply pickguard, vintage-style rosewood “Viking" bridge with Graphtech® Nubone™ compensated saddle, open-gear tuners, and Fishman® Isys III pickup/active preamp system with built-in chromatic tuner, on/off switch, three-band EQ and volume control.

Laminated mahogany (sunburst) or ash (butterscotch) top & body
    Quartersawn Scalloped X bracing
Mahogany (sunburst) or maple (butterscotch) neck with rosewood fingerboard

  • This guitar would be worthy of 6 stars if that could be done!

As reviewed by Jim Fleischmann on 8/20/2013

First of all I'm not really an acoustic player, I have six electric guitars. There are just some songs like Black Bird by the Beatles, and acoustic Led Zeppelin that just don't sound as good on an electric. I also wanted an acoustic because of the heavier (.12 high E-string) to practice with to help strengthen my fingers. I had been looking for a reasonable priced acoustic for a few months, but nothing in the 500.00 or lower price range spoke to me (like every one of my six electrics did). I had seen this Ron Emory acoustic on YouTube and loved the video of Ron talking about designing the guitar. I honestly had never heard of Ron until I saw that video. I absolutely loved the idea of a butterscotch blonde acoustic to match my Telecaster. I went to several local music stores to see if they had one in stock, but no luck. I hated the idea of buying a guitar without playing it or at least hearing one in person first. The videos of it sure sounded good though, and I loved the look of this guitar. After thinking about it a lot, and an offer from my local GC store that I could return it with in 30days and get my money back if I didn't love it, I decided I really had nothing to lose. I'm so glad that I went with my gut feeling and ordered it. The guitar is really amazing sounding and looks so beautiful! When I got it home I noticed a sticker on the pick guard that says "Featuring A Solid Top" I am not sure if that is true because every ad I have seen for the guitar says laminated ash top, sides, and back. Having a solid top would explain the amazing tone, but I'm still not sure what to believe, I guess I should call Fender and ask them what it actually has, but it really doesn't matter because it truly sounds great! It has a nice loud tone it is bright but rich, really a perfect sound better then anything I have heard for less then a thousand dollars, I am serious it's just un real! The Fishman electronics are awesome but I have not plugged it in very often, I have only had it for three days now and love the fact that I don't have to plug it in, for it to sound great! there is nothing I can say that is a negative about this instrument. Don't be afraid of it being made in china, the build quality is fantastic! Yeah I wish it were made in the United States, but if it were it would cost more then a thousand dollars. I can not get over how nice this guitar really is. I had owned an American made Guild about twenty years ago (before Fender bought the company) That guitar was gorgeous, it had an arched back and was a cherry stained mahogany, I sold it because it just was too quiet sounding for a dreadnought, and didn't have built in electronics. This guitar blows that Guild away as far as tone, and even looks. The pictures of this guitar look good online but they really don't do it justice. I can tell you that Ron Emory did an amazing job with his design ideas, I could not be happier with this guitar, if there were another star to rate it I would have given it six stars. If you were considering buying this guitar, you will not be at all disappointed! There are not enough reviews of it yet, which made it very hard for me to make a decision buying it. If you do get this (or have one already) please right a review, I would love to see if I just got that one in a thousand great instruments, or if they are all as nice as mine, but I have a gut feeling they are all this nice! I am pretty much a nit picker, if there was one small negative I could tell you about I would do it. In fact I should tell you I had them tweak the truss rod about a 1/4 of a turn in the store, because the action seemed a little to high, but that is probably because I am not at all used to an acoustic, I have played nothing but electrics for the past 15 years. This guitar is so nice I am actually tempted to buy the parlor version of it, I could see it being loud for it's size which is what you would want from a smaller guitar. I have not seen a guitar that can come close to this one for the price, it even sounds better then some of the Martins and Taylors I recently checked out, and they were over a thousand dollars! If you are thinking about one of these you can stop thinking and order it, they are way under priced!
