  • A real vintage pbass

As reviewed by RAFAEL SOSA on 12/19/2013

An excelent bass always will sound great, no matter where it was made, this is a MIM, but, man it?s a massive destruction weapon! It has a real vintage Pbass tone. Is unbelivable that a 2012 bass sounds like a 50?s vintage! However, we must recognize: these basses are not for everyone, it's normal to want that the basses are shinning when we buy new one, is what we all consider normal . In my case, of course the look is important, but some people like I, consider irrelevant the look of bass, if considered within the total amount of benefits received from the instrument: touch, confidence, ability to be played, sound, tone, weight, the whole experience of playing is the sum of many things, not only the sound and the look. In particular, I decided on a relic bass for several reasons: 1 - I do not know if the relic gives it the sound it has, (and I do not really care to know) I just know that this bass sounds very well, just for this reason I have chosen this one. 2.- I can tell my wife that cost me 200.00 dlls and she do not get angry with me. (hehehehe) I think, everyone understands this reason. 3 - Because when I?ll have a presentation, if someone wants to steal equipment ... My Bass will be the last thing they will want to steal. 4 - It hit or fell? Ah! No matter! ... it?s the Road Worn!, one scar more (now really mine) . Well, not everyone understands this and that is why these basses are not for everyone ... but everyone should have one, because is a great bass. Just unpacked , this bass was correctly setup: completely straight neck , no noise on the frets, strings at very low altitude, it only took tune and ready to play! That was fabulous. Buy it, buy it, buy it, B U U U Y IT !

  • Didn't expect this to be such a great bass

As reviewed by Brian Grudil on 7/17/2013

I have to say that I was not expecting this instrument to be so great sounding and playing, based on it being a Mexican model. I had a 2008 American P-Bass, and the thing was extremely solid. The tone was very clean...too clean for me. I felt like I was playing a piano, when all I wanted was some gutsy, overdriven tone. Enter the Road Worn series P-Bass. This thing plays amazingly right out of the box. With the standard setup, I've recorded and had other pro bassists ask what year it was and state that they love the tone. The worn feeling of the neck makes me feel less careful about the bass in general, leading me to be more adventurous in my playing. The sound is right on. It's not too clean, nor does it sound cheap. The tone control rolls off the highs as I would expect from a P-Bass, but can bring it into that rock tone zone pretty easily. The looks are pretty cool too. Yes, they all look the same, but at the same time, you're probably going to be less careful with this bass, adding new scars of your own. The finish makes it feel extremely comfortable. Some of the newer finishes get sticky, at least in my opinion. This just feels comfortable. Highly recommend this bass if you're on the fence. I do not think you'll be disappointed. I only wish I hadn't bought that American P-Bass first, and could have saved a little bit of $$$.

  • Reclaim your long lost first good bass!

As reviewed by Priest Bass Player For The Saints of on 2/1/2010

Remember that first awesome bass that you owned? The one that you like an idiot sold to some guy because he told you that this brand new thing was what was hot.... Turned out you got gipped, and your first love is now gone forever... Hold the presses; you can get that first "real" bass back. The Frills free design and awesome sound are yours to have once again. The 1957 P. Bass is the Holy Grail of basses for a reason... Everything on it was just right. No pointless EQ's, nothing to get lost in the dark, just pure bass bliss. Plug In, Tune Up Rock OUT!!! Built for club night good looks and flaw free recording I have used mine to play everything from country to death metal with out a single problem. Straight out of the box this baby feels like an old sweat shirt you have owned for 10 years and love. Some dreams just can come true. Pairs perfectly with an Ampeg SVT Head and 8x10 cab.
