I bought this basically to finish off the Highway 1 I bought this year. I wasn't sure if I'd actually use it when I play but liked the look and had heard offhand that it might actually change the sound of the bridge pickup through providing additional shielding. Well, I won't be using it while I play because while it's not uncomfortable it rocks slightly when I least expect it. it seems to pivot at the point where it clamps the tailpiece. Guess that might be part of why there are more of them acting as ash trays. Hey, it looks nice when I take pictures and it hanging on the wall.
I bought the ashtray for my new Tele Vintage Hot Rod because I've always used one on my old Strat. I was surprised to find that it very noticeably changed the tone--the already excellent tone is now more resonant and full, which I like (I'd take it off if I were going for a crisper tone.) My only complaint is that the fit is a bit loose.
Bought this bridge cover the other day. Not for a Fender Telecaster, but for a Stagg Telecaster. I read the other reviews before I bought this and how those folks said it "rocked" a little. I'm not sure why, but on my Stagg this thing fit PERFECT! It does not rock at all, sit flush all the way around. It also sits right up next to the bottom of the pickguard. It looks like it was made for the Stagg Telecaster. It is difficult to palm mute with this thing on, but it comes off easy. I leave it on when I'm not playing. It gives it a finished look.
