When you back up as many different kinds of musicians as Reggie Hamilton, you need a bass that can adjust. Reggie's Jazz model is set up to cover the spread. It combines a Noiseless Jazz pickup in the bridge position, and an American Series Precision pickup at the neck. The pickups can be switched to passive or active mode via a mini-toggle on the pickguard. Active mode has a 3-band EQ with boost/cut on each band. In passive mode you get master volume and a pan control between the pickups. Another custom feature is a Hipshot Bass Xtender drop D key on the E string to give you the low D without going to a 5-string.

  • The working musician's dream bass

    This bass is amazing. Flat out. It's mexican made, but I could swear the parts in it are american. Pros: P/J pickup combo. Why don't more people play a bass with a PJ combo???? It's truly the best of both worlds. With the parametric EQ adjustments, you can make this bass sound like the funkiest fender jazz bass, OR get well into MusicMan tone territory. Hipshot Tuner. Instantly drop the 4th string to a D by flicking a switch. Very reliable and easy to adjust with your figertips (no wrenches required) Active/Passive pickups. This is a MUST if using in venues with a straight plug-in to a PA system. Active pickups are WAY more aggressive, but this bass sounds amazing in both modes. Satin finish neck. I hate gloss necks... so much... This neck is nice and soft and feels AMAZING straight out of the box. (literally, I ordered mine.) The P bass pickup is positioned in the old position... the "Sweet spot" as it were. The bass is a good weight. Not all that heavy. It looks really great too. Very classy look for any player. Cons: The old style bridge is a bit of an oddity. The saddles are made from cut hardware nuts, so they have the screw threads on them and the string sits in one of the threads at all times. This allows the string to move around if you're REALLY playing hard (which I don't, I just know some of you are crazy.) Even this bridge is not much of a problem. Overall: GREAT bass. This is truly the best kept secret of the affordable basses category. :] Rock on!!! \m/(>.<)\m/

  • A very good bass, especialy for heavey metal

    Much like the American P bass my bass player owns this bass and we both love it. This is an excellent guitar and it is worth the expense. The guitar has an alder body and the finish is fantastic. The neck has the modern shape that is very comfortable to use. The guitar plays incredibly well, the action is low and the string tension is perfect. The guitar is built well so it should last for many years of serious use. If you record this is an excellent choice, we use this bass to get a full body tone with just the right amount of punch (even more punch than the P bass). We tend to use this guitar when we need a little tighter slap and pop type of sound. We also use this guitar to record most of the heavy metal tracks and we have never been disappointed. This guitar may be expensive but it is worth it.
