  Just brought home the Mustang V Head and it delivers big. I really thought I wanted the Crate half stack, but could not be happier with the Mustang V Head and 412 half stack. It has clear punch on the clean channels and scorching distortion when needed. Loud as hell at mid volume with super clean tone regardless what effect your playing. I can't wait to start modifying some pre-sets and doing some recording. It looks like a real value and I'm stoked! 4 position foot switch and tuner all work great and it's a great piece of equipment for the money. It won't be on stage much, but looks terrific and sounds even better. Eat your heart out!

  Straight away I will say I am a HUGE Fender fan, I will also add I am a strict and I mean STRICT tube person. Having said that over the years, I have tried every new solid state amp that "emulates" tubes, and frankly the ALL fail. What sets the Mustang apart is two major things, for one the price is amazing! And second, it really does sound fantastic! It emulates the old amps very well, and the 63 and 65 spring reverb on this amp sound great! Someone with well trained ears who has played vintage amps before can tell a difference, but overall it is a well made easy to use head that comes with a decent 4 button switch. The modeling aspects are good and you can dial in great tones. I do not have the Mustang cabinet, but play it through a early 60's Traynor 6-10 cabinet, and it sounds great. I think I may be a bit under powered though. It says 150 watts, but I am not so sure about that. I bought this because it is solid state, it is light weight, maybe 8 pounds, unlike my tube heads that can be almost or over 80lbs! It is cool looking sounds great and works well. Being a huge Smiths fan I love the two Johnny Marr tones, and the Deluxe and Twin amp tones are great. You can do alot with this head for the money. Get better cables for the speaker cabinet-the ones that come with the head are ok. My only complaint is that it did NOT have metal corners, actually it had NO corners at all!! I immediately went out and bought some chrome corners, and stainless wood screws and put some on, not only does it look better, possibly slightly more "vintage" to match my vintage gear but it will not get torn apart loading and unloading out of the car.

• the last amp you will ever need

  Where to start. This thing is just plain cool. The 100 presets are way cool and easy to change just like the 3 and 4. the fuse software is cool and easy to use. I also have the mustang 3 and love that also. For some reason i got it into my head that i needed a half stack in my residential home..... the most amazing thing about this amp is that you can play it at extremely low volumes (Low volume like an acoustic played quiet) with great tones and it still responds to your input like a tube amp running hot. Unlike my mustang 3 that flips like a switch from quiet-ish to loud @1.5 the V has a very linear volume control. So in that respect it works better in my home than any other amp i have including an old squire 15w. But this thing also gets with it, 3-4 can be felt in your chest with outstanding tone from the V cabinet. The tone is amazing, especially for the price. It is so adjustable that you can make it do pretty much whatever you want. The 4 button foot switch is cool, well built, and sturdy. What else is there to say about this thing, if you are just getting serious about the guitar and thinking about buying a bigger amp and you think you may want to play live someday, buy this amp and be money ahead! For the money i don't see how you can beat any amp in the mustang line up. If i could offer up things to change to the fender reps it would be, add a second 1/4 input, and edge/ corner protection on the head and cabinet. Despite being careful loading the cabinet at GC I managed to ding the edge of that beautiful cabinet on my way home. If you were to gig a bunch i could see it getting tore up pretty quick, Minor quivers for the price. Good job Fender! just get one!
