Great

I've been playing this bass for about 2 years - in and out of the studio. It has a very solid construction and feels great. it feels much lighter than any bass i have ever played, which is a good thing in my book. the sound is incredible when used through a decent amp. the frets aren't too far apart, so if you want to walk along the neck with minimal effort, you should check this one out.

A great shortscale

Fabulous bass, great action and durability. Use it live and in the studio, lightweight and plays fabulously for a shortscale. Nice golden bright tone.

cool shortscale bass

the mustang bass has a great fundamental tone to it. Sounds great with flatwound strings. It is a 30" scale so it is very comfortable to play and move around the fretboard. There is not a lot of variety in the tones that you can get, but it does deliver in the low end department. Very lightweight and easy to move around. I have used this in rock, pop, rap, jazz, etc. It has performed well in all venues that need lots of bottom end. Great guitar for beginners or pro's looking for a new bass sound to use.

perfect for me

i went from playing guitar and singing to playing bass and singing so the shorter scale really helped me get used to playing the bass. the tone may not be perfect for everyone, but that's no reason not to give it a try. i'm in love with it.

A little more tone control?

I've only played this bass a few times, but have I have to say, thre is not a lot of customization of the tone. BUT! That does not mean it is a bad bass. It has great sound to it, and a really really nice body. It's very comfortable to play for long periods of time, and doesn't leave you sore afterwards. If you like a shorter scale, then this is the bass to go with! But if you like playing thrash metal, or anything like that, I wouldn't reccomend this bass. But anything that's not too heavy, this bass is perfect.
