  • Fender mandostrat makes old man smile...

As reviewed by STEPHEN on 6/14/2014

Wow! This thing is so cool! I was waiting to be disappointed with this inexpensive imported instrument, but after tuning and playing for a few moments I found myself giggling like a little girl. Then I plugged into the Roland. Once again, I was not disappointed. Nice fat frets adorn the flat Fender style fretboard. The old Fender Villager style peghead looks bitchen. Wish I still had my old Villager 6 string. It's nice enough to me that I'm suprised Fender did't bother to make a hard shell case for it. Acousticly I like the sound. Especially late at nite when all are asleep its comes in crisp and clear alone in my room. I've had this item for only 4 days and I know it's a keeper. The only issue for me was the string height came in more than little a little bit high which is easy'ly remedied with a simple bridge height adjustment. Neck looks straight as an Fender arrow. My opinion is for the price I find this stratolin, mandostrat, an excellent minor investment that experienced, seasoned players will appreciate and it looks great next my Breedloves, Michael Kelly's, and Washburn. I am so satisfied with this purchase that I'm now saving for the FM62E followed by a Godin A8! I must consume mass quantities of these fabulous products before its too late!!! Once you get the must have more mandolins bug, its hard to shake. Thank you for reading this review and I hope It assists you in your next mandolin purchase.

  • Wail On This Thing!

As reviewed by Ed on 10/23/2014

Great little cheap electric mando. I've had an acoustic mandolin for about 20 years and I needed an electric for a new project. Needed tuning up out of the box, but that's about it. The pickup works well. No feedback because it is a solid body unlike most of the others. I find you have to roll off a little treble, but it is better to have too much than too little. Straight neck, good intonation. The main thing I like is the very strat-like cutout in the body. Not terribly traditional, but quite functional. You can lean into it with your right arm and play the thing comfortably. Well done, Fender.
