The Kurt Cobain Jaguar® is meticulously modeled on the battered and highly unusual 1965 Jaguar that Cobain wielded during the heady early-’90s era when Nirvana ruled rock and led a musically stunning and culturally subversive movement. Fender craftsmen have reproduced Cobain’s battle-hardened Jaguar down to the last unusual detail, including its worn finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls (which were already in place when Kurt acquired the guitar in summer 1991). Unique features include an alder body with Road Worn aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape with 1950s-style “spaghetti” logo, DiMarzio® humbucking DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and DP100 Super Distortion bridge pickup, triple knurled “chrome-dome” knob configuration (volume-volume-tone),three-position toggle switch, black chrome Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and Gotoh® sealed tuners.
Includes a black textured vinyl hardshell Fender case and an exclusive Fender Kurt Cobain book with photos and commentary by Charles Peterson and an insightful interview with Nirvana guitar tech Earnie Bailey.

I have been a Nirvana fan since I was a young pup. I was 12 years old when Nevermind was released. ?Lithium? was the first song I learned to play on my own on the guitar. To actually own and hold a replica of the guitar I studied so closely as a teenager is something I never dreamed could happen unless I built one myself. I am very pleased Fender took the time to recreate this unique instrument of rock and roll history. This is the 4th Jaguar I have owned. I have previously modified the HH version of the Jaguar to get close to Kurt?s specs, but the result was never exact.
This guitar is well-balanced and easy to play. Out of the box, the string height was a little high for me, but it is manageable. There is some slight buzzing on the high E. Again, some adjustments will take care of that. The Dimarzio pickups are strong, and sound as they should. The replication of the ?aging? and ?wear? appears to be spot-on and applied very nicely; it looks very natural. The wiring of the circuits in this guitar is very different from a standard Jaguar wiring, but it is easy to manage once you?ve played the guitar.
The only knock I have on this guitar is that it is made in Mexico. I had no idea this wasn?t coming from the Custom shop in CA (maybe I should have read the fine print somewhere??) The craftsmanship is still very impressive, but I guess I just assumed this would be a USA built model. The case is nothing special, just a standard 3-latch Fender case, but it is nice to get a hard-shell case included with the guitar purchase. The book that comes with the guitar looks like it was bound at Kinko?s, but the interview with Nirvana?s guitar tech was interesting to read. However, the author didn?t offer much insight into Kurt?s rig a Nirvana fan doesn?t already know.
Overall, this guitar is an amazing addition to any Fender Jaguar fan, even if Kurt Cobain wasn?t one of your favorite musicians. I am a satisfied customer.
Ii saw that Fender was making it available for the states. I knew i HAD to have it!! I just got it this Christmas from my wife, and i gotta say this is with no question, my favorite guitar I own for the money!!! Not only did they achieve the relic specs incredibly, the thing plays INCREDIBLE!!!! The Dimarzio Pickups far exceeded my expectations, and the modded controls are a lot of fun too!!! I don't like that you have to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod, but hey that's what Kurt had to do, so im cool with that!! The guitar came set up pretty well out of the case. I believe it came with .10-.46s but im going to be putting .10-.52s (Kurts actual gauge, and whats recommended for jaguars) on it soon. If it were to be stolen i absolutely would replace it, if their are any still available since this is a limited run. Truly a gem and an awesome tribute to such a legend!
