I bought this amp due to the fact that I once owned a previous Fender hot rod deluxe amp. I sold/traded it for a Marshall. Big mistake! Was not happy with the Marshall as I didnt have the tone i once had before using Fender Hot Rod series amps. (I play Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat & tele.) I got this amp although it has less features than the deluxe but it was just what i needed. I run a Line 6 Pod through it as well. This little amp packs a powerful punch in tone and is very loud! It will make the walls hum and shake. It is probably one of the best amps that i have owned for home use. You can also use it to perform as it really is a loud amp. Crank the volume knob with the FAT switch ON and you get a dirty blues like distortion tone. Great for blues! Throw a Tube Screamer on it and its great too! The louder you go with the Master the more dirtier it becomes. This amp also works well with stomp boxes and effects pedals. I would highly recommend this amp or any other amp in the hot rod family to guitar players. Go to your local store and play one for yourself. I love this amp and I am 100% satisfied with it. I do not think I have to search for another amp anytime soon. I just know not to sell Fender amps again as they are keepers. I once owned a Twin reverb and hot rod deluxe. I place this right up next to them in sound and quality. But it definitly fits the budget way better than the bigger amps.
I love my Blues Junior. I was looking for something with fantastic tone (of course) and without a bunch of amp modelling and other extra, ummm...let's just say "stuff", added to it. I also was going for easily PORTABLE. Fender fullfilled all my desires in this amp. I took my telecaster and Vox tonelab pedal into GC to try some amps out. Spent over an hour messing around in there, until I found the Blues junior and after about 10 min. was anding one of the dudes my GC card. THis is an awesome amp...I would suggest getting the footswitch for the FAT feature, Live Wire makes one that is half the price of the Fender model...FAT is one little extra that this amp does feature that is very nice indeed.
The best amp you could ask for. Vintage tube tone in a compact form. I bought mine slightly used and it's still amazing looking and sounding. The small size may fool you, but let me tell you, this little guy packs a punch! Talk about loud...the Blues Junior shakes my room! Wonderful amount of tones can be created from it. Of course you have the well-known Fender clean tone, but it handles everything form surf, with the pre-amp volume down with the treble and spring reverb cranked to 12, to full-out distortion with the pre-amp and all tone controls raised. This amp also takes pedals very well, especially a tube screamer, giving it that rich SRV sound. On the hardware side of the spectrum, it's very light-weight, making it easy to haul to small gigs and perfect for studio use. Easy-to-read controls make it easy to dial into the right setting for that certain tone as well as keeping it simple with no unnecessary knobs. I also own a Line 6 Spider III 75 Watt modeling combo, and my Blues Junior blows it out of the water, in every way imaginable. Should have started with this to begin with...
