For the last 9 years I have been playing nothing but JCM 800's and the Mesa Mark Series amplifiers... until NOW. I needed a great amp to pair with my new Gretsch Chat Atkins Tennessee Rose (hell yes) and tried my usual and some others but stopped searching immediately after I tried this bruiser! It screams! So clear and boomy! So sparkly... wow - the headroom is unbelievable. Paired with the Way Huge Green Rhino I was in rock n' roll heaven. Honestly people, stopped messing around with boutiques and go with a classic name. The guys at Fender really know what they are doing.
Me- own three fender amps-bassman 59, deluxe reverb, Newer G-Dec.
I plugged into this amp today without any care. I just wanted to play this Telecaster I've been fancying in a nice amp. Plugged in and went Wow! I thought maybe it's just the guitar(priced about 1600 so really nice electronics). So I grabbed an epiphone lp(about half a grand) with soap bars and once again WOW! Alright ultimate test fender squire.....once again Wow. The squire sounded 10 times better. I played in middle position and it sounded incredibly close to Clapton soloing sound of today(though I could still I was playing a squire-haha). Tried a few more guitars like hollow, and semi hollow body guitars, an explorer..... Really bright distinct distortion on all.
Please try this amp out.
After being an active blues/rocker for over fifty years, I had a sound in my head that I could never truly replicate with any of the guitar, amp and effects pedal combinations I?d tried over the years. I started playing guitar professionally in 1962 on a Fender Telecaster through a Fender Vibroverb amp. The sound that rig made has haunted me throughout the years. In the fifty years that followed I?ve gone through innumerous guitar, amp and effect setups. My rigs have always been governed by my needs verses my finances. My latest setup was a Fender Highway One Stratocaster, a Fender Frontman 212r and a Boss Me-70 multi-effects. I almost got that sound in my head but the amp just couldn?t keep up with LOUD drummers and big halls. I needed more stage presence; that?s where my new Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 III comes in. I bought it from GC at about 3 o?clock this pass Monday and by 6 o?clock had it laying down fat lush tracks in my studio. Best of all my Highway One Strat and my Hot Rod Deville 410 produced the sound that?s been tattling around in my head all these years. No effects peddles, just pure Fender tube driven heaven. My sound was right there at the amps chicken-head knobs and man the reverb is silky sweet. I can't wait to take it on a job and burn the ears of one of those sonic terrorist drummers. The amp is a bit hefty for a sixty-four old bluesman to lug around but quite worth the strain. When performing with my band, ?Daniel John and his Band of Old Useless Bastards,? there?s always a young blues-cat that's willing to give an hand to a couple of old farts who can?t muscle the heavy equipment. I digress, I love this amp. Thanks Fender and Guitar Center.
