  • My Next Bass

As reviewed by Daveh003 on 8/2/2009

I was looking for a new J-Bass (I have a couple of Fender Basses, but my only Jazz is fretless) that was American made, nitro finish, and with a Bad-Ass bridge (I have one on one of my other Fender's and it's the best). I was expecting to pay $1400+ and have to pay a luthier to cut the bridge saddles for me ($250+ more). Then I saw this at my local GC. The price is stellar for a bass of this quality. It has everything that was in my checklist, plus the nitro was a flat satin and feels great Then there is the tone, which even for stock American pickups is off the charts. It's hard to believe you can pick up an American made Fender J-Bass for even close to this price.

  • Godly Bass

As reviewed by Apollo Pechy on 2/4/2008

Well, I have been a professional bass player for the last 10 years, I haven't seen a bass quite like this one. It ease of use is great for a pro or an amatuer. I play all types of music and this fits in anywhere, it is extremely good for Jazz and Blues. But I found out that it is also really great for punk and ska. This is a must have bass for any bass player young or old. Keep rockin'!

  • Thoroughly pleased!

As reviewed by KnuteFuzzbox on 4/27/2010

This bass was a dream come true for me! I thought I'd never afford an American-made Fender bass, but this was all I hoped for at a price I could manage. Besides just having the smooth sound, broad range, and easy playability the Fender Jazz bass is known for, I love the flat satin finish. I got the 3-tone sunburst, and it looks so cool! Don't let the lower price fool you - the Highway One series is made with the same craftsmanship as the more expensive models. I heard the savings comes from the fewer layers of finish, which to me is actually more attractive than the glossier look you usually see. Yes, it sounds awesome and feels so good to play! The Badass Bass II bridge is a neat extra feature not available on the more expensive models, (except for the Geddy Lee,) and I think it's superior to the standard bridge in that it's sturdy and more adjustable. Over all, very happy with this purchase!
