The elegantly deep GB-41SCE cutaway acoustic-electric bass from Fender boasts a mini-jumbo body. Features include solid AA-grade top, solid mahogany back, rosewood fingerboard, and 34" scale. Exclusive Fishman Classic IV ACLR electronics let you blend the built-in contact mic and below-saddle pickup.

Funny thing about acoustic basses—they play and sound much better when they're designed by bass players, and our GB-41 SCE acoustic/electric bass had its genesis in the army of great bass players at Fender.

Best acoustic from Fender

This is the new Grand Acoustic series from Fender. This bass has everything I want in a bass: deep hollow body, 34" scale, classic color and finish. It is rather heavy, though, and can hardly stay on my shoulder. But it gives me the feel of authority. I played it unplugged with my wife on the piano, and it prevails against the onslaught of her Yamaha. The deep body creates enough resonance to "fight back" the sound of the piano. Plugging in is where the fun starts. I can create virtually any sound I want. My favorite is to push the bass all the way up, kill off the mid, and set the treble at one-third. It creates a haunting sound that is perfect to accompany my wife's "Moonlight Sonata". I've played more expensive basses (including Fender's Victor Bailey, Martin B-1, and Breedlove Atlas). While the GB-41SCE produces weaker sound than the heavyweights (unplugged), it gives me the feel of playing a bass. For me playing a bass is about rythm. To establish rythm, I like to have authority, and this Fender gives me the feeling of authority due to its size and weight. Plus, it's an aestethically beautiful instrument. Plugged, only the most trained ears would notice the difference between $1200 Victor and my $500 GB-41SCE. Highly recommended.
