    i got this amp and was in love instantly this amp has the best overdrive and clean and the midcontour switch does wonders. the reverd is insane it is great or those clean tones and even overdrive solo best amp ever

    The clean channel is amazing on this puppy..but this is where it gets you, the actual channel overdrive on the amp is so-so, so if you have your own pedals, this is the amp for you my friends. and hey, 65 watts for only 200 bucks, its a steal.

  • Very good "grab and go" or backup amp

    I've owned the Frontman 65R for about 2 years. The clean channel is excellent, has classic "Fender" tone. The overdrive channel is OK, but not spectacular compared to a tube amp overdrive. Main complaint: The volume on both channels goes from zero to fairly loud at 2. There doesn't seem to be a "1" volume. The included button type foot switch is a little cheesy. A single button wedge switch like the ones that come with the Fender tube amps would be a lot better (are you listening Fender?). I play American Strats through it. It seems to sound best on the clean channel with the Bass around 8, and the Treble around 6. A Boss Blues Driver pedal or Boss DS-1 Distortion into the clean channel sound wonderful. During practice with drums, bass, second guitar, and keys this little amp has plenty of clean volume even at 3 to 4. As a test I turned it up to 5 or so and it was too loud to listen to comfortably, yet it was still very clean with loads of headroom.
