  • Best Bass I've had!

As reviewed by Ryan on 10/12/2009

I've owned this bass for about three years now, and I could not be happier! I actually bought another bass after this one, and ended up selling it because I never played it. I can get literally ANY tone I want out of it. I play all styles of music, and I'm able to get a Jamerson/P Bass/Motown tone, a nice high end slap/pop funk thing, fat tone, bright, dim, whatever you need, you can dial it in, and with just three knobs too! Absolutely incredible instrument, highly recommended!

  • I got more to say!!

As reviewed by Cameron! on 1/10/2011

I wrote the review 'awesomesauce' previously. I have more to say! I recently got D'Addario flatwounds on my bass and the action got adjusted as well as the bridge. The GC tech cleaned it up for me and all. This bass is even better then before. The tone is mellow and rich and the playability is amazing. Seriously people, don't let the price fool you, the list price may be lower then the Fender Standard J Bass but this bass is, well, simply, better. The body is lighter then Alder and the finish just tops it off. Thet tuning machines on mine are sturdy and lock on tone. The stock pick ups are better then I expected, going through a B20 Acoustic amp this bass sounds beautiful. If I had 3,000 dollars I would buy this bass still, and obviously and American Standard, but both sound amazing. I love this bass and I know the quality is the best. I would recommend to any bass player. I'm intermediate and I would play this bass probably as much as the $1,300 american standard.

  • Solid intermediate bass

As reviewed by Kitchen Doctor on 11/14/2011

As a fan of natural finishes, this hooked my eye right in. In my hands, it felt so right - one of the most playable necks I've ever felt (even amongst other Fender Jazz Basses). After a half-hour run-through, I went home without it. But I thought about it all weekend. Let the fever build - addicts know what I mean. Waited for a sale, then took it home, and didn't leave it alone. Adjusted the intonation and action and made it even better, making this a "solid intermediate bass." But in all honesty, after 2 years of owning this, I gotta say you should definitely replace the bridge (Dear Fender, this bridge is an embarrassment!), and maybe upgrade the pickups (they're good for home practice, but leave you more than a bit lacking in a live setting). With those upgrades, it'll approach a 5 star rating for a great price. But no matter what you use, play any instrument and you'll get more out of life.
